Oh wow…can you believe that the holiday season will be upon us before you know it? There are so many things that you need to get done! I decided to share some of the things I think that are helpful!
1. Go ahead and get those christmas cards ordered! Storkie.com has some awesome festive cards for you to choose from! It’s never too early to go ahead and have them ready to send out! The quicker you get them, the quicker you can send them and recieve your own cards (totally my fave part of the season! maybe more than gifts lol)
2. Do some basic house cleaning, especially if you are going to be entertaining family for the holidays. I know that sometimes we have family stay with us, and it’s easy to go ahead and get some of those general tasks out of the way like cleaning up your guest bedrooms and whatnot
3.Start making a menu! Go ahead and figure out exactly what it is you are going to serve at your holiday meals. this can help with deciding who wants to bring what, how much you need, making a list of things you need, etc
4. Buy your gifts! seriously! avoid the rush. avoid black friday if you want to, sometimes you can find awesome deals without even really looking for them.
5. Take advantage of a layaway plan if you need to! It gives you plenty of time to allow yourself to pay for the item just in time for Christmas. I know it helps some people to put things on layaway that way, the money is going somewhere specific and you don’t loose site of what your trying to do.
6.Dig out your christmas decorations! I know mine are towards the back of the closet under my stairs! There are about 500 misc. boxes and junk in front of them. I think they need to be closer to the front, that way I have plenty of time to find them! Also might want to find your christmas music!
7. Check the aforementioned christmas decorations and make sure you have everything that you need, and that the lights work, and nothing is broken and all of that good stuff. Also a good time to make sure all of your lights are in working order!
8. Bake up some of your holiday candies & goodies and freeze them! I know that my mom bakes up fudge, cookies, candies, pumpkin rolls, etc in advance and freezes them in her deep freezer. It saves her so much time and stress during the time leading up to the big event, and it doesn’t affect the taste at all!
9.Clean out your fireplace/chimney if that is something you have! i know that you might wonder what in the world that would have to do with your holiday planning, but some people only use their fireplaces around the holidays when they are entertaining. Make sure everything is safe and creosolte free!
10. Plan fun activities for the children (and others) this way you can avoid the problem of coming up with things on impulse or letting the tv babysit them. I know in our family tv is a big no no, we play bingos and all kinds of activities!
I hope that these things help you out, and that you have a very joyus holiday season!
