Knowing what to buy people for Christmas can be tough and as the holiday has gotten bigger there seems to be more pressure to find that perfect gift. But if you’re stuck on what to buy the creative person in your family or friendship group then you’re in luck, because here is a little Christmas gift guide specifically aimed at creatives.
- Give them passes to their favourite galleries
For creatives, their love of art reaches far beyond their own creation and when they aren’t focusing their attention on their own artwork they often love nothing more than taking inspiration and giving appreciating to the art of others which makes giving them membership or a VIP pass to their favourite gallery or museum a great gift. Art passes and museum memberships open up a world of art, history, opportunities and community and are a gift that every creative person will be able to appreciate for the full year to come. - Gift them art lessons
Art never stands still and creatives are always in pursuit of new techniques and greater skill in their craft. Give them the gift of education by purchasing them an art lesson with a well-known individual in their field to help then expand their repertoire and hone their skills. Art lessons also make great gifts for people who aren’t necessarily creatives as it provides them with an excuse to relax, unwind and be inspired in a field they don’t normally pursue. - Give them the gift of new experiences
Creativity spans many genres and many creatives will jump at the opportunity to get to try something a little out of their comfort zone such as basket weaving, working with clay, cake decorating or finger painting. To make the gift truly special why not make it a group activity for them and their family. Group activities and experiences are great gifts and not only ensure that the person has fun themselves but that they make memories with their family that will last a lifetime. - Help them with their core materials
A practical gift that every creative and artist will appreciate is a little helping hand to keep their core materials stocked up. Whether it be watercolour brush pens, paint, crayons, canvases or pencils the cost of core materials can soon rack up, so why not buy them some of their favourite staples or gift them a gift card to one of their favourite art stores so that they can buy their own. - Give them space
If the creative person lives within your home then one of the best things you can give them is a creative space, their very own studio. This could be a room in the house for them to kit out as their own or a space down the garden in an annexe or shed. If you want to be even more generous then renting them a creative space somewhere else even if it is a shared co-working creative space could help them to meet more creative people and branch out with their creativity.
