One of the best things about coupons? You can use them to make a stock pile of certain things that are usually pretty pricey (in my opinion- but i’m a thrift shop & coupon girl!)- Typically I stock up on pet food & treats (just be mindful of expiration dates and what not) and things like make up, body wash, shampoo and conditioner/ other hair goodies Dishwasher tabs, and other misc cleaning supplies and paper products are especially easy to be able to stock up on if you catch the sales just right. I know that this week has been FREAKING AMAZING with the majority of these things! It has been some of the best couponing to get back in the swing of things this week so it has been super worth the effort! Tampons & Pads are also something that you can stock up on- When it comes to those & even toilet paper i’m like why pay all that money on something you are literally throwing away?
Back to my hair collection? I have a whole bin of shampoos and conditioners and that is just to start with! We have a linen closet in our bathroom but I have adapted it for goodiesI also have some stray unmatched conditioners (seriously I have naturally curly hair so I use oodles of conditioner!) I have a spare drawer in my set of plastic drawers with several of those in it. I also have about 2 bins of various hair products- including the fancy hair treatments and the conditioners /repair things you get in tubes.
I actually use conditioner as a leave in/styling sort of product if I’m wearing my hair natural. David didn’t know exactly how much I had until a couple months back and he happened to open the closet door and was like OMG lol. I was like well.. it was free/moneymaker/they basically paid me to take it out of the store so why not?- which is basically the attitude I have when it comes to anything i’ve kind of got a stock of- which we have just really got back into this in the last couple weeks/since the beginning of the year!
This week, as I mentioned though has been super awesome – I found sam’s cat food as a clearance item at Publix (I know that wasn’t a coupon but…) His food is generally 8-10 bucks depending on where I get it and thats only a 3lb bag- I have to get the beyond naturals food for him – I guess because he is older his digestive needs have changed and this is the only food that he doesn’t really seem to have throwing up issues with.
I found it for essentially a BOGO deal though so I was really happy for that – I got 4 bags! It was kind of funny because with all the stocking up I was doing, I had mentioned to David it would be nice to be able to stock up on food for sam , but since his food is so expensive there wasn’t a way to do that- but with marley she can kind of eat whatever dog food you find so .. and lo and behold today BAM here it was!
One of the awesome deals that my mom and I did was this week at CVS -which was 4transactions on my end! (and then there is one i’m including we did at walgreens- though we don’t typically do walgreens)
The BIG deal we did was on Laundry Detergent! I am telling you, laundry detergent is a bit pricey in my opinion! It is also a really easy item to find deals on and coupon for and I mean it is laundry detergent so what is going to go bad with it you know? One of my deals was the oddball trip to walgreens where I got 6 bottles of arm & hammer for pretty much 6 bucks! My mom and I split that order into two transactions- I’ll get back to that in a few though- because I want to tell you the deal that I got at CVS and between the 4 transactions I did there and the one I personally did at walgreens I only spent $3!
For the Tide Deal(check out the coupon here)- It was like buying 4 packs of tide pods, and getting them for .69 cent a pack for 5 packs because of a spend $20 and get $5 back in extra bucks + there were some redbox coupons + the printables!
One of the packs of laundry pods that we got actually ended up being a package of Gain which was awesome as well( the new gain coupons that are here helped with the deal as well) sometimes it seems that people have coupons from the paper that we don’t because they are regional ,so sometimes printables help pick up the slack on that!
So, what did I basically end up spending $3 on/ How did the transactions break down?
I started out with $20 in cash. I also had $5 in extra bucks and a 25%off one item
Transaction 1
2 Packs of 4 schick razors
1 Garnier Fructis Shampoo
1 Garnier Fructis Conditioner
2 Colgate Toothpastes
1 Loreal Studio hairspray
1 Loreal Elvive Shampoo
1 Loreal Elivive Condiotoner
Total OOP 1.24 (taxes) Saved 52.91 (100%) Savings
I got back $10 in Extra Bucks
Transaction #2
1 Gain Flings
2 Tide Pods
Total OOP $1.86/ Saved $21.25 ) 96% savings
(did not get extra bucks just yet)
Transaction #3
Physcians formula Charcoal cleanse stick
After $3 coupon & 25% off one item $7.26 – I made a mistake and forgot to use my $4 extra buck but it was o.k in the end! just would have affected my out of pocket vs register rewards! I also got back $5 in extra bucks!
Transaction 4
1 Tide pod
$2.29 out of pocket
got back $5 in extra bucks
Transaction 5 (Walgreens)
3 Arm & Hammer Products(2 Liquids, 1 Power Pak)
$3.39 out of pocket
with all transactions I spent around $17 in cash (if I would not have made a mistake with the physcians formula it would have been $14) I have $14 in extra bucks left (would have been $10 if I wouldn’t have made an oops) so I essentially spent around $3 for all of that! I also just saw on my app I hit the Beauty Club threshold of $30 and got $3 back so.. BAM.. I didn’t even really spend the $3!!
I might make a “repeat” sort of post on the deals with pics and more details if time allows. That is my goal!! I am so excited for couponing.. these were super awesome deals. I also have a 20% off purchase and a 25 % off of one item to use as well!
