this post was written in exchange for a promotional item from glamulet in exchange for my own thoughts ideas and opinions. All stories thoughts ideas and opinions are honest and my own.
One thing that I care deeply about are the cancers that a woman can face. I personally have had cervical cancer in the past (very early stages right about the time David and I got married) and my mom had a scare with a lump in her breast while she was pregnant with me, and that is a story that I have wrote about before on this blog many many years ago but with breast cancer awareness month right around the corner, I feel that it is worth writing about again.
My mom found this lump on her breast when she was pregnant with yours truly, and this was back in the early 1980’s and let me just tell you, they were NOT very medically advanced when it came to sort of things like they are today. I had always known that my mom had a lump when she was pregnant with me and that she had showed me the scar before, but I didn’t realize the rest of the story until I finally just out and out asked her a few years ago.
Basically they didn’t do any real tests on my mom and they did everything by feel, and they actually gave her a pill to put me to sleep and then her while she was pregnant and removed the lump. luckily it was not cancerous and she has never had any other problems with it.
So when I found out that Glamulet, a fashion brand with all kinds of goodies like bracelets , necklaces and the like is having GlamuletĀ Breast Cancer Pink October Campaign, I knew that it was something that I wanted to write about.
Breast cancer isn’t something that has went away since my mom first had her scare back in the early 80’s. I kind of look at it like my experience with Cervical cancer in the way that when my mom had her scare with breast cancer it was kind of one of those things that no one really knew a whole lot about…and when I had my cervical cancer scare it was kind of the same situation. These things have became more widespread, and there is increasing technology to help people who are in these situations.
Thankfully there are charities out there that are there to help those who have breast cancer. I am sure many of you , if not all of you have became aware of the pink in october, with the pink goodies you can find out there, and that the pink ribbon represents breast cancer.
Insert Glamulet- they have a special line of charms that 50 % of the proceeds will be donated to charities that support breast cancer research, which is totally awesome! I know that I love the color pink and charms and all that good stuff so if I can buy those sorts of things and help support a great cause at the same time, why not do it?
The main goal that Glamulet hopes to accomplish is that by 2050 that every woman who is diagnosed with breast cancer will live!
