Oh Yes, Yes I have! It was about a month after I broke my left ankle back in 2013! I broke my ankle in the snow right before Valentines day when I was out in the yard taking pictures of SNOW. I mean for the love of all that is holy I am from the mountains (lived there until I was 4) and then I lived in Boone for 2 years- I have seen PLENTY of snow so yeah I laugh about that! Then of course I had on slick bottomed crocks that were wore out because I wasn’t thinking- and then I wasn’t thinking about how the yard at the old apartments was so unlevel … and then.. I was not paying attention to what I was doing exactly and I was just trying to get this pic of something dark where you could see the snow and.. slide. ..and OUCH!
I had Jury duty on March 25 I believe it was and it was the first ever time. David gets called every time he turns around and I kind of knew you go in and you’ll be out by lunch as on and on. well turns out this was the biggest case ever in our county! My mom had came and dropped me off with my little boot where my foot was messed up since they wouldn’t let me out of it even though if i didn’t keep it elevated it would swell to high heavens… well lunch came and I got to go home but I didn’t get to stay there! I had to get a friend of mine to take me back to the courthouse because my mom had to go and meet someone about where she was selling some blueberry plants or something another like that.
David knew I wouldn’t have a ride home because my friend had to pick her kids up and take them to soccer practice so he took off work early and was waiting on me about 3:30 and lo and behold we didn’t get out until near 5! It might have even been after! I was DRAINED my foot was swollen and I was like REALLY
The next day my mom dropped me off , and then came back for me at lunch. Since I STILL had to go back and she didn’t know when I would be able to leave- and at the rate we were going I figured it would be ALL DAY again.. she ended up leaving and I told her I would just get a ride home or something or figure it out later. I actually got called up to the jury pool right after lunch, and then the one side opted for me to be on the jury but luckily the other one didn’t and I got to leave at 3:30 along with everyone else! I actually walked from the courthouse to the house- the courthouse was just up from the college I used to walk to, and so me , my pink cane and my boot walked home- took me about 15 min so it wasn’t too bad!
I hope that it is NEVER or at least a long long long time before I have to do that all again, and if I do I get lucky like David always does- in and out on the first day by lunch!
