So, You very likely may have saw my previous review that I just wrote for IQAir-or you may have been following along with my blog for a while… Just in case though, I will recap that about 5 years ago, right after we moved to our current apartment I started having some breathing issues- which we would come to find out later is allergy/seasonal related asthma! It was pretty scary and I am one of those people who absolutely will not go to the DR or anything related unless it is a pretty scary situation- and I finally had to break down and go- and was very thankful that CVS Minute clinic was willing to see me since I don’t have insurance
I actually called them and told them my symptoms before hand and they were more than happy to see me- they just wanted to make sure you know that if it was SUPER bad at that time that I would go to the urgent care or ER. I probably should have done any one of those options long before I ever went to the minute clinic because it was super serious , super scary and goodness knows people DIE from asthma but.. I had managed to mostly get it “controlled” except for when the inhaler that I had got from walmart broke(it was refillable and awesome- I just had bought refills about the time it broke too!) I was also lucky that the day I went to minute clinic they didn’t send me to the ER because.. my oxygen level was crazy low.. EEK!
I love monitoring things related to almost anything you can think of- from weather and how it can affect conditions – to when I use my inhaler and things like that. I actually have this thing somewhere that you pop on your inhaler and use via bluetooth that will give you all kinds of statistics like that… I actually haven’t used it in a while, and now i’m wondering where it is and if it would still work (I don’t think there was a way to charge it- anyways.. something i’m gonna be on the prowl for now I suppose!)
So when IQAir offered me the AirVisual Pro Air Quality monitor I was like sounds good to me- especially since it was coming up on October which is generally my dreaded asthma month ! Plus, like I say i’m a feign for little tid bits of random information (I mean that spotify year in review -I look forward to that every year!) When I first got it I admit that I myself couldn’t set it up on wifi via the app or on the actual device- it isn’t that for the normal person with normal internet that this would be a hard thing- it is just since we got this community wifi at our apartment place- setting up stuff is a PAIN and I had to wait till David had time to do it …
If you don’t believe me about it being a pain let me just say it has been a YEAR and my wireless printer is no longer able to do wireless things because it won’t connect to our internet properly! So If you have normal internet where you can just plug and play, or you are a little more tech savvy- no problem setting this one up!I Mean to me having to get mac addresses and go to a website and all that – just a little more than i’m really into having to do- but not the devices fault by any means!
So what exactly does the AirVisual Pro air quality monitor due? well, a little bit of everything! Such as:
Weather Forecast
Air Quality Forecast
Outside Air Quality
Indoor Air Quality
CO2 & Temperature
Humidity and Weather
Health Recommendations
You tie all of this together with the Air Quality app and you are good to go! You can know what you are breathing and other stats that are important to someone like myself – pretty much anywhere that you are.. It will work on batteries, which are built in, but I have noticed that if you keep it on wifi – it will suck the battery down pretty fast- so I do recommend that you would keep it plugged in- and I actually talked to the girl from IQAir and confirmed that 🙂
I admit that I haven’t got to mess around with the AirVisual Pro as much as I would like to have because of so many things going on – as you well know this year has just been super crazy with my dad almost cutting off his finger, my eye burn, my grandpa dying, david’s fender bender and my parents super scary rollover wreck.. I know that was all before I got the device but I am so behind on stuff + having to wait to get it set up and then now holidays and travel and that sort of thing-but… I do look forward to getting to use it more in the future!
