Most of you probably know I have a tendency to enjoy adult beverages! I don’t experiment too awful much, I kinda stick with what I know but when someone offers to send me some to review I am def. game! I have in the past had the chance to review wines and the like and have found several that I have ended up liking and then buying again in the future! I guess I like to try before I buy when it comes to those sorts of thing- better that than buy it and get home and be disappointed I suppose is my take on it!
Anyways, you have probably gathered by now that I have had the opportunity again to review alcohol again, and you would be right! thanks to Kobrand Wines and Spirits I got a box of awesome Wines and Spirits to review and include here in the 2015 Holiday Gift Guide! I was pretty excited to start with but I was really excited to see that they had included some liqours in with the wine- I just had said send whatever you have that you might need reviewed 🙂 They represent so many different brands, I knew that no matter what I would be a happy gal!
I received two bottles of Wine, as well as two bottles of Liquor 🙂 I figured the best way to write this one is just to break down what I got and give the details and that it will be easiest that way!
ALIZE PASSION BLEU
First Up I got a bottle of Alize Passion Bleu Liqueur and when I posted my pic on facebook everyone started throwing a fit over this one immediately! I had messages within minutes of how does it taste and all of that kind of thing and I was like whoa hold up I haven’t tried it yet lol. Even my mom ended up asking me if it was really that color or if it is the bottle- the answer in case you don’t know is- it is that color of blue!
So what did it taste like , just like everyone on my friends list on Facebook asked from the get go? It was REALLY good and would probably hit #2 on the list of the ones I got. It is a mixture of passion fruit, cherries and ginger, and it is mixed with french vodka. I really picked up on the cherry part and it blended well with the passion fruit (you’ll see why I say this when i get to the next part of my review!) I could semi taste the ginger as well. For some reason I do like drinks that add ginger in , this is something I have just discovered lately!
It was easy to drink and I know that there are lots of things you can mix with it, but I prefered to drink it straight. My main goal was to make it last for a bit, so the first night I opened it I just was getting little splashes of it in my cup, but then the next night i told David to get me some and he poured an entire glass and after that it was just gone! This was like a dry drink to me- like you drunk it and it doesn’t linger around, but I rather enjoyed it!
ALIZE PASSION GOLD
Next up is the Alize Passion Gold– now I tried this one for the first time the night I finished off the blue, because I was sitting up watching t.v and blogging and whatnot and I was like o.k why not. However, on first smell I didn’t like it at all. I don’t really know what I thought that it smelled like but it totally turned me off, and then I thought the taste was weird. when I tried it again another night I thought it was just fine and the smell didn’t bother me either. I think that the taste part might have been threw off for me because of drinking the Blue one on the same night!
The Gold version is passion fruit mixed with the french vodka and was also an easy one to drink out right. To me it wasn’t as dry from what I can remember. After I figured out though that it was passion fruit and wasn’t mixed with anything my mind kinda got over the smell /taste thing and I thought it was really good. I think that it was a simpler version with not as much going on for it but that was actually a good thing.
Oh and while we are on it- yes that is the color of the drink , not the bottle 🙂 This one was #3 of my ones received but it is only because- well you’ll see how it all stacks up when you keep reading
Caposaldo Pinot Grigio
I will straight up tell you I am NOT what I would consider a wine snob, as in it has to be expensive or a fancy blend for me to drink it! I am actually quite the opposite -pretty much all my wine comes out of walmart and like I say I kind of stick to the same things. Also I generally go for red wines- but this one was not THAT BAD 🙂
Caposaldo Pinot Grigio is 12.5% alcohol by volume and it is an Italian based wine, obviously – it has hints of apple and pear. It would be great paired with white meats, fish, pastas and cheese- and one of these days I am going to try to drink wines with what they are supposed to go with and get a vibe for that kind of thing.
I found it to be a bit on the bitter side, but not too bad- I have had some wines before that would activate my gag reflex they are so bitter! It just wasn’t a wine that I could sit and “chug” it was more of one of those wines that you have to sip on- so in my world that means start drinking it early on in the afternoon 🙂 Which I sometimes really enjoy like when working reviews and various blogging things so this was perfect for that and it kinda helped me not be so stressed and all that good thing!
Of the 4 I received this was #4 but I am not knocking it- I just generally go for sweet wines!
Caposaldo Peach Moscato
I will straight up tell you that this was my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. It might be that I am biased because Moscato is my favorite variety of wine- I usually just get plain red or pink and sometimes white. I don’t think I Had ever had any that was more of a particular “flavor”
Caposaldo Peach Moscato was kind of an instance of saving the best for last for me because it had one of those fancy pop corks on it, and I can’t open them by myself because I am scared of them lol and I am afraid of them spewing all over the place too. So while the others I could open in the afternoon/ evening or even when I was staying up doing whatever at night I had to wait on David to open it for me one evening when he got home from work.
This one was a FIZZY wine and probably reminded me of a peach soda and even David who does not hardly ever drink, especially not wine- he said he wished I had a few more bottles and that he could really get into drinking it if I had more! I loved the fizzy and the way that the peach balanced with the moscato and the fact that it wasn’t sicky sweet. I think I drank that bottle within no time lol but I did truly enjoy it ,and I will be looking around here to see if I can find it in the store somewhere or another!
It is only 6.4% by volume but it was such an easy drink I am telling you it could sneak up on you in a heartbeat if you had more of it. I am def. interested into looking into the other sparkling varities I found on their site, there are a regular, red , and even a pink merlot (you know how I love pink even in wines? 🙂 )
Summing it All up
Of course I enjoyed trying all these different wines, if you couldn’t tell! I always like trying new things when it comes to alcohol, so I have to confess that wine and related reviews are some of my absolute favorites to write, and I look forward to hopefully working with them again and bringing you more reviews like these in the future!
