Oh and I totally went off topic on the organization aspect and just talked about my kitchens past and present but.. that just the way this rambling gal is! 🙂
I have pretty well in general always had a pretty small kitchen! Â When I first lived in Boone at Appalachian state I shared a kitchen with 2-3 other girls at a time. We also had a small laundry room off of the kitchen and we had a shelf in there where each one of us got our own to stock with snacks..then we each got a cabinet in the bottom part in the kitchen as well .. Dishes were generally mixed.
When David and I moved out on our own when we first got married we had a really small kitchen- which is also the same sort of kitchen I had later on when we lived at the same apartment place but a different apartment I had one of those kitchens where basically it was NO counter space except for enough room to put a dish drainer and a microwave. My washer was on the right side of the counter and the dryer on the left.
I often used the washer as cutting & prep space! Â I had the luxury in both of those apartments to have a HUGE walk in Pantry that I miss tons- that helped a bit with organizing things. I also had a decent amount of drawers and cabinet space! The second time we lived there we had a EXTRA MINI pantry though and it was great because it freed up space in the big pantry! See now I am starting to miss that place lol.
When we lived at the place in between after we had stayed with my mom and dad we had a pretty sizeable kitchen but there were NO Cabinet space hardly at all and I had to use those god awful plastic shelves.. The only neat thing was having this corner cabinet with like a lazy susan thing in it but the cabinets were pressboard and I hated them! I was also always freaking terrified we would end up with a rat/mouse in the house especially in between when I didn’t have shadow and hadn’t got Sam yet! We had this huge field behind the house and .. yeah.
I love our kitchen now- I think… I finally have a dishwasher and even a garbage disposal .. I still have essentially no counter space and the cabinets are a bit “short” to fit stacks of stuff in like my pioneer woman bowls with the “feet” lol. I also only have 3 drawers which throws me for a loop! I have a lot of things stuck in our laundry area that used to be in pantrys. I do have a small pantry but after having that walk in one- not even close. I also have this cute little cabinet my grandma gave me that I keep canned  food in – I have had it a while and I think when we were moving last it got dropped and I nearly went crazy! Thankfully it was o.k!
