This year marks the 6th year of Lake Norman Beerfest and this year they will be featuring Southern Sauce BBQ as well! This will also make my 3rd year of getting to attend! When David told me several years ago about the beerfest I had honestly never heard of such an event- I was so inquisitive and of course he didn’t tell me to the day of and it was pretty much a last minute decision to go- we busted into some mad money we had at the time and ended up having his dad come along as well!
In case you don’t know what a beerfest is- it is basically the most awesome concept ever- you can sample all kinds of different beers as many times as you want – and it is included with your admission price! I know I have pretty much became a “wine girl” but I savor getting to try all the different beers when beerfest rolls around! I love all the variety and getting to try things I might not try otherwise- and sometimes that leads to me buying something different to enjoy later on down the road as well!
Last year when I covered beerfest it was in the spring, and I have to say I am glad that we are going back to having it in the fall this go around- especially since you probably genuinely get the vibe from my blog name that I am a huge fan of fall (that is in case you have just stumbled by and don’t already know that!)
Beerfest this year will be held on Saturday September 24th at Galaway Hooker in Cornelius, N.C from 5-9 (general admission) If you go VIP you will get a bonus hour from 4-5 with limited edition beers as well. Just keep in mind it is an outside event so no matter the weather- rain or shine it will still be happening!
This year they are adding Southern Sauce BBQ to the event which means you will have a variety of BBQ to try as well- which I know I am that “weird girl who doesn’t eat pork” but I have high hopes there will be maybe beef and chicken. The southern sauce addition this year will be a showcase of top BBQ pit masters from the Carolinas. There will also be music from simplified and blue monday as well.
I know that the last time we were there these same bands were there as well, but David and I were so into talking to each other and connecting (I know forbid!) that I can’t really remember a whole lot about the music- so I will *try* to pay better attention this time around!
There will be a sampling of 75 beers which include not only brands like Sam Adams but North Carolina craft beers as well!

- Unlimited Beer Tasting from 4:00PM-9:00 PM
- Commemorative sampling glass
- Music by Simplified and Blue Monday
- Extended tasting hours 4:00PM-9:00PM
- 10 exclusive beers
- VIP tasting area access
- Collectable pint glass and t-shirt
- VIP only restrooms
- Free bar-b-que
Something I really like is part of the money is donated to a few different charities such as the North Carolina USO, American Patriot Fund, and Battle Dogs
