As you know, the 30 day BE writing challenge for october is only 20 posts long this month, and since I don’t want to leave my blog without content on the weekends, I am supplementing with some of the awesome blog posts that can be found from Mama Kat. I can think of about 3 really bad sunburns that I ever had!
One was actually from the ACTUAL sun, and it was when I was in about 5th grade. We were having our Field day at the end of the year. I had a teacher come up to me and say something to tune of OMG OMG you are burning you poor thing! and I just looked at myself and was bright red! I don’t know if i had forgot to put on sunscreen or what the deal was! I just know that I can remember going home and trying to take a shower and someone had left it on the high setting.. like that you clean with and I didn’t check before I got in! It was horrible!
The other 2 really bad ones were when I was older and going to the tanning bed. One was back when I first started tanning at this place when I was going to appalachian! There was a gal that worked at the tanning bed that I really liked her name was Nichole (you know, with the H) so we had really bonded. Anyways, she was trying to get me in and out one night that they were really busy, so when she asked me if I was o.k laying in one of the upper beds I didn’t think anything of it, and neither did she. I can remember going home and wrapping up in a fleece cherry blanket that I had and using tons of aloe and lotion! When I did go back she apologized to me, but it really wasn’t her fault. i was in a hurry and neither one of us was thinking that I hadn’t worked up enough color to be laying in a bed like that!
The WORST one by far I ever got was in the tanning bed and it was about..3 years ago now I guess it was. The place I had been going to for quite a while had changed bulbs and DID NOT mention it to me. I came in a back way so I didn’t see the signs and I have always just found that most tanning beds are sure to MENTION these things but anyways they didn’t. I remember I wasn’t even up to 20 minutes just yet. Anyways I didn’t even lay the entire time, I got too hot. Later on I had BLISTERS under my ta ta’s and it was horrible!!
From here on out, I hope I can tan somewhere that has a lick of sense to tell you they have changed bulbs, and so far I have lucked out! I am really careful about starting out and all that too! I don’t want to be like that again any time soon!
