For as long as I can remember I always wanted to be a teacher. I always liked little kids and I loved school and I was kind of bookish and all that kind of thing! Â I always asked my teachers for extra copies of their worksheets so that my friend Ashley and I could “play school” I even got a filing cabinet one year for my birthday so I could keep all of it in! Â I even had the sliding grade scale thing, the guides to lots of the books I read, teachers editions of books the nifty chalk holder (you know metal and the chalk went in it?) and all kinds of cute notepads, and just about anything you could name!
You could have well tied this in with some sort of office job because I always had files and folders and even a typewriter at one point. You have to realize I grew up before tech took over, and it was a great time when children played office and school and dr and all that sort of thing. We had imagination and we used it. We played outside.. o.k. I got to stop being all nostalgic!
Of course I did go to school for BOTH Of these jobs. I didn’t get to finish my teaching degree and I was literally just getting to the good part where you got to go visit the schools and see the little folks and all of that! My mom got hurt at work and we couldn’t afford my off campus housing ( after you are a sophmore at the school I went to, you pretty well can’t stay on campus unless you are in a sorority or something like that) So this is when I switched to Medical Office admin, and came home.
When I got my job at the Salvation Army my original plans were to get enough money to cover my rent because I made a deal with my dad that I would do that and he would pay my tuition. Of course I met David and the rest is history. I did eventually get a MOA degree but- everyone and Jesus has one of those and you cannot find a job in a 50+ mile radius for that around here.
I would like to finish the teaching degree one day but- I don’t think I ever will!
