IN THE BEGINNING:
So I have been with Amazon since around 2011. I would have thought a bit earlier than that, but that does seem about right when I give it a second thought! I think I originally joined to buy text books for school off of the market place that I couldn’t find on other sites, and ever since I knew you could buy or rent text books I always tried to get them the cheapest way possible since I never did qualify for financial aide no matter what situation I happened to be in (By the time I got married i’d completed too much of my degree or something equally as silly!)
Hello, Kindle
I can say that I am pretty well rounded in the ways of Amazon at this point though. Back then I didn’t really see much to them except they had a lot of books- which I have always been a book person even though I wasn’t reading as much as I normally did after I started blogging. I know one of the first things though that really pulled me in actually happened to be the Kindle!
I have an older one- it’s black and white and it even has free 3G internet on it with AT&T and that has came in handy more times than you can think of (when the power is out and no wifi/while you are trying to conserve battery on your phone/tablet for other things) I remember when I had it at my mom and dads the first time and my dad was like “oh is that one of those Kindle things from Amazon?” First of all I didn’t know he knew what Amazon was let alone he had heard of a Kindle – but I have always loved my Kindle even though I don’t hardly ever use it!
I guess I have used it just enough to say that I don’t want to get rid of it, + that internet feature has been awesome. I have always liked the concept of not having to drag books around as I did when I was a child- + you have so so many more right there if you choose to buy them and what not. I have always been an avid reader and when I was younger when I would go somewhere it was always a pain to figure out how many books to take when we were going on a trip or something. I always read fast- I can knock out over a thousand pages a day + riding and reading wasn’t something that ever made me sick! A kindle would have been a life saver!
Kindle Unlimited & Fire Tablet
So, I didn’t even realize about the awesomeness of Kindle Unlimited until- David got me a fire tablet to replace my tablet. I was enjoying a few books from Amazon Prime (don’t worry i’ve got a section on that coming up!) and then I stumbled upon Kindle Unlimited and i’m well.. as you know down a big huge rabbit hole of reading ever since! I can’t even fathom how many books are literally at the touch of my fingers- and that are included for that low $9.99 – It is AMAZING.
Oh, and before you think I am totally a dunce- I do know that you can do KU on the Kindle- I just never realized really what it was until the Fire tablet! Sometimes, when my eyes are really strained from reading or I am charging the tablet I grab the kindle to get my fix!
As far as the tablet part goes- I actually hate to admit I haven’t even really put half of what I had on my old tablet on it – or even bothered to set up most of my accounts on it because I have been reading so much- It is on my elusive to do list. I do have to say though, for the price I’m pretty pleased so far and I will probably upgrade in the future!
Amazon Prime
I think that David and I have had Amazon Prime since they existed/started having the 2 day shipping and we progressed to buying CD’s and other random things online. I have always liked it – though for us it does tend to be a bit pricey. In case you were wondering you can share prime– you can find out all the details with that link!At one time we shared with my mom- I am totally fine with having packages sent over there since back then they used USPS for shipping and you know how I have had some issues with that sort of thing here.
I like that prime not only has that 2 shipping, but now they have evolved and some things you can even get the same day! Other things I like are that they were first to start getting your packages here on Sundays , there are books, tv shows, movies, music included as well. For David and I it tends to be a good value and now with the paying monthly (even though it costs more in the end) it really works out for us!
Alexa & those Echo Devices & Fire Tv
We got a Amazon Fire Tv last black Friday as well as a Echo Dot. My mom now has the dot because we have upgraded to not only the regular Echo but the Echo Spot. Oh, and David is considering getting us the new Echo Cube Tv which is like an alexa & fire tv all in one- and then I get the regular Echo for my Office (Oh lord I would get an office about the time I quit reviewing and blogging so much right?) Anyways, I was hoping for the Echo Show so you never know how it might work out!
Alexa is a mess. I have so much fun playing song quiz, jeopardy, and chit chatting with the various test bots. She kind of freaks me out sometimes because I swear she gets triggered when we don’t say her name sometimes. If I even am just talking about here I will whisper “alexa” so she doesn’t come on!
Amazon Deals:
I haven’t had too many experiences when it comes to the Daily Amazon Deals, but I know that they are generally pretty awesome! I think my mom has used them several times and I know that David has bought some of them too I think. I also know that I have been tempted by a few of them because they are some really good deals. You can find out more about them by checking out the included link!
Summing it Up
We are def. Amazon type people and slowly and surely Amazon and Alexa seem to be taking over my house but I’m o.k with that! I look forward to seeing what things they come up with in the future and maybe upgrading a few of my devices and such!
