Of course, we all know that summer is upon us here in the South- it has come in fast and furious. I know that it isn’t technically summer by the calendar just yet, but to me when the weather is 85 degrees in the shade by 10 a/m most mornings..well that is summer to me!
Now, you likely wouldn’t think that I would know a lot about anything to do with home improvement and what not because I rent, right? Half of that statement is true- I do rent but thanks to living in some older apartments over time and also, of course, I have encountered home improvements and the like when it comes to my parents doing things not only when I was growing up but now as well.
When I was in 10th grade my mom and dad had their own house built- as opposed to us living in a trailer which we also owned by that point. Even though they had it built there were things that we were constantly going to Lowe’s for – especially because they have a porch that, except for one side, was considered to be a wrap-around porch. I am not to this day exactly sure why they didn’t finish it or if they will. Everyone loves their porch though! Any time we have a yard sale or something everyone comments and compliments it.
Something else I am familiar with? Staining that porch! My mom is not only obsessed with power washing her porch and the side of the house every year, but then every few years I know she talks about staining it. I don’t think she does it every year, or maybe even when it is supposed to be done because it is in general a pain!

Olympic Paints & Stains is touring throughout the U.S. to 21 different stops! The tour is coming to various Lowe’s locations- 4 of which are in my home state of N.C! The first of which is today Thursday, June 2 and it is in Lexington! The other 3 are:
Friday, June 3: Lowe’s of Winston West
Saturday, June 4: Lowe’s of North Winston
Monday, June 5 Lowe’s of Charlotte- Northlake Mall
The one that is on Monday is VERY close to me and it is also the last leg of the tour! IF my mom wasn’t having to go to the foot dr on that day I would have def. stopped by and checked out the activities- it really does suck only having one car sometimes!
Here are the awesome activities that are going on at the event that I am sad to be missing out on:
