Well I am not sure how many posts I might write about the Social Online conference just yet, but i’ll probably *try* to write at least one more!
I got chosen to help moderate the Social Online conference, which was held last weekend fri-sun. I didn’t get to attend every session, as I did choose to sleep in on Friday, and then had various things going on at different times throughout the scheduled sessions.
However, the sessions were recorded and most of them were available yesterday evening, and I have gotten to watch a few of them that I Had missed as well.
The Majority of the sessions were AWESOME SAUCE and the speakers were really open to questions, and even follow up with them through emails. I have followed some of them on twitter and even got some @ replies and DM’s back! I really want to follow and connect with all of the speakers and other confrence attendees at some point on the various forms of social media links that they left. I am sure everyone didn’t feel out an intro on the intro page, which isn’t cool, because it would have been fun to really get to interact with EVERY SINGLE PERSON
The Social Online conference was the first type of conference of any type that I have got to attend. It was very informal and with the option to rewatch later was extra nice.It was nice to see some of the same people that I will get to see speaking here that speak at traditional conferences. One such person I enjoyed was Amy from Momspark, and who will also be at the Reviewers Retreat 2012 that I will be attending in June. (Funny sidenote about momspark/amy the first twitter party I ever went to was one of theirs, that’s the one when I got up for a break I fell down the steps and broke my foot!)
There were a few technical glitches, but in the end, everything basically worked out quite nicely. I took more interest in trying to FIX things on my site after going to this conference ! Maybe “fix” isn’t the right word..I decided to get more into what I do, and find somewhere to “fit in” among other things. It makes me want to complete tasks that I have started like my media kit. Makes me want to get up CONTENT and just generally interact with people. Put more of me into this, make the place more interesting…
A few of my favorite sessions were Lara from Mom Biz Coach, she did an excellent session on twitter, Amy Bayliss who did a session on blogging niche’s and let me just say, it REALLY opened my eyes on the way that she perceived a niche as more of your attitude!
One that I am looking forward to getting to watch is with Christina from Linnell Media Group who is doing a presentation on Social Media in 60 minutes a day..Her’s isn’t live yet though!
Like I say, all of the sessions I have watched so far have been awesome, but these are a few that have stood out
Again, I am looking forward to rewatching several of the sessions over, and watching some for the first time. I really hope to write a follow up blog with a few things I learned along the way, etc!
I was provided a free conference ticket in exchange for moderating the conference but I wasn’t required to write any sort of followup blog of any kind. All opinions stated above are my honest opinions. I just really enjoyed the event and wanted to share my expirences.
