I never know exactly who is reading the posts- loyal fans or casual readers.. or someone who is popping by for the first time- so I don’t know if you know it or not but I do have a severe allergy to peanuts- and minor -major allergies to a lot of other food things.. and it kind of comes in on where people call me a picky eater- because it goes with the old things we didn’t eat when I was going to church (pork -for example which I still have no desire to eat) and then things I just don’t like and it all mixes together and makes me look picky- which i think to a degree we all are because we might have likes and dislikes and other factors too!
So of course when it comes to candy or cookies or anything else around which might contain a peanut I have to throw in the towel. I mean I am so deathly allergic to peanuts 3 of them could kill me. I have benadryl in liquid form I carry around but I am actually considering checking about get one of those devices where it talks you through when you might go into shock that they have now. Anyways when I was growing up these sorts of allergies were far and few between and not a bit common- I didn’t know anyone who had them other than myself- but you know what? No one was ever mean about it or made fun of me for it and for that I am grateful because I know now a days kids get bullied and picked on and things like that because of these allergies and sometimes it is so extreme they get seriously sick or even killed and it is horrible!
Most of the time my allergy was always confused with Chocolate and I don’t know why- I am not allergic to chocolate one single bit but 9 times out of 10 someone would be like no no you are allergic to chocolate, and I guarantee if i would have held a peanut in my hand they wouldn’t have made the right connection. Luckily I was a smart kid, and I knew what peanuts would do to me so I was always very careful- and I still am to this day. I have to say that I have to this day- and I am 31 years old going on 32- and was diagnosed with food allergies before I was 2- I have NEVER got ahold of a peanut and I am very thankful for that..and I Hope I can always be as lucky as to say that!
So yes, it has always kinda sucked to not to be able to eat the candy that everyone else did- you don’t know how excited I was when snickers came out with the snickers with almonds, and no I couldn’t eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich – but when I was a little older they came out with Almond butter which was pretty alright especially when I didn’t have another choice! Then now that these allergies are more widespread there are soy butters, and even nutella. I am glad things are advancing so that we can enjoy the same things as every one else, that is why when I had the chance to review one of these alternatives I couldn’t say yes fast enough. I was really happy to get to try Sneaky Chef No Nut Butter!
Sneaky Chef N0-Nut Butter is a better alternative in my opinion than some of the others out there because it is Soy free as well.. and technically I am allergic to Soy- it just isn’t an extreme one and it is one that I have semi outgrown! I also like that it is made in a facility where there are no nuts present- so you don’t have to worry about that mumbo jumbo that I am sure that you have seen on practically every thing under the sun now a days “produced in a facility where there are peanuts ,blah blah blah” just so it covers their butts in case there is a mistake!
It is available in 2 different varities: Sneaky Chef Smooth No-Nut Butter and Sneaky Chef Chocolate No-Nut Butter, and you can even get it in not only regular 18 oz jars, but you can get it in to go cups so that you can take it with you wherever you might be and want to enjoy it- I am def. going to get a few more of the to go ones and stick it in that stash of goodies in my purse that I tote everywhere I go (salt, dukes mayo, soy sauce, etc) This way if everyone is eating something and dipping it in peanut butter (which I can’t even be around that because the smell bothers me) but you can pull out your Sneaky Chef No-Nut Butter and enjoy whatever it is as well!
The Sneaky Chef No-Nut butter is made out of yellow peas and is all natural, soy free, gluten-free and contain no high fructose corn syrup, no hydrogenated oils and no artificial colors or flavors. I found that in comparison with other no nut butters I have tried it did have more of a sweet flavor – almost like a light caramel flavor but I kind of enjoyed that a little more than the old standard ones that I have had!
I have really enjoyed getting to try the different options available and I love that I don’t have to worry about my allergies and I can enjoy something that is like something that a lot of people in my opinion take for granted. I hope that one day someone out there might come out with some more options – like more varities of candy that are made with things such as sneaky chef no nut butter a well!
