I am sure if you have been following along with my blog, or with my holiday gift guide reviews so far you have saw me do a mix of different reviews including food items.. and you know I always say I am more of a salty/tangy/spicy kind of gal, but I don’t mind the occasional sweet at all! I especially like chocolate and sometimes I get on a Chocolate binge where I want it a lot more than others!
So I guess you can say when I can find different ways to mix chocolate up and eat it -cookies, candy, etc I like to do so , especially when I am on one of my binges- of course there is nothing wrong with the standards, but it is always fun to mix things up when you can- and of course since chocolates best friend is my worst enemy (peanut butter/peanuts) it is a little bit hard to stray from the norm. When I had the chance though to get all kinds of chocolate goodness that had some non peanut varieties and it is good for you I was like YES PLEASE
Yummy Snack Bars are “Better than Candy Bars” from the get go! They are made out of things that are way better for you than a standard candy bar like almond butter and flax seed, coconut and cocca and as if that wasn’t an awesome start, they are gluten-free and contain only 8 grams of sugar (and no starch), are high in fiber, and contain 100 mg of Omega 3s.
They come in 6 different varieties – 5 of which I can have, and 4 of which I was able to try /save one of each from David! He really went through these when he was home for thanksgiving vacation last week! The flavors that are available are Peppermint, Brownie, Coconut, Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter and Chocolate. We received all of them except for cookie dough (which would have likely been my favorite, but I didn’t even know it was missing until I started writing the review!) Of course I can’t have the peanut butter one so..
I supposed the best way to break it down is the 5 flavors that we received and bit of information to describe the taste? I am flying alone so to get better descriptions you can always check back after while and I will get David to help me out- but I kind of wanted to get this done while I had the writing bug 🙂
Peppermint– David actually told me this one was like a york peppermint patty. Now I could have this one but I absolutely detest chocolate and peppermint together for the most part and couldn’t bring myself to try it. David said it was awesome and I did save one back so I haven’t decided totally against it just yet! It is basically peppermint in a dark chocolate coating. I know that if I don’t eat the one i save back for me I am going to give it to my pawpaw because he loves peppermint patties and my mom even makes some of her own for him at christmas every year!
Coconut – this one is coconut in dark chocolate coating and it made the think of a mounds bar, so I really liked it because the people in my dads family are always said to be coconut lovers and my mom said you used to not be able to go to the family reunions and find everything covered in coconut that was a desert- and she doesn’t like it so much lol.
Brownie– One thing I have always loved to bake was brownies of some sort! this way I can have my brownie and I don’t have to make a mess! Oh and half the time I don’t have eggs so that is a plus too.. basically with this one You have your brownie in a dark chocolate coating- and it is just so much more convenient! I think now that I am writing this I am going to have to go find the one I stashed away- see what reviewing food does to you?
Chocolate– this one was another one i really liked because of that coconut factor I was telling you about! IT is chocolate with a hint of coconut and then the dark chocolate coating It would be like your basic plain chocolate bar with a tiny twist. Top notch for sure
Peanut Butter- You’ll have to wait and let me get David describe this one for ya’ll – but don’t worry I am sure it won’t be long- just when he gets home i’ll ask him and he better let me know 🙂
So I am a big fan of Yummy Snack Bars and for the price and what you are getting (healthy alternative to regular candy bars) I will def. be buying some in the future to have for when I just have to have chocolate- especially the coconut and brownie ones! I hope to be able to try the cookie dough ones too!
