This is basically a post of background information & how my trip came together. Stay tuned for an in depth look at my stay with Vacation Myrtle Beach at Hotel Blue soon! I just knew this post was already pretty long so I thought splitting it would be a good idea!
A little over 3 years ago I was lucky enough to get a comped hotel stay, and I was fairly excited. I never thought when I started blogging all those years ago that I would ever be getting anything to review, let alone a hotel stay! I thought it would be easy from there on out to get to go again or even go some where different, but by the time I had picked my dates the next time around things changed and well.. needless to say it never panned out. In these 3 years I had pitched several hotels in several places and never had any luck.
I started talking to the folks who have Crown Reef Resort several years back on Facebook and I finally decided to try again early this summer. Of course, I couldn’t get anything for the summer time- but I did finally decide to try them again for a fall trip, and I am very glad that I did! It turns out they are owned by Vacation Myrtle Beach which has about 14 different places that I could choose from to stay! I had been looking around and I thought that Hotel Blue sounded like a really awesome place so I pretty much just decided between it and Crown Reef Resort. Since Crown Reef was so similar to the place we generally stay in TN, I decided to mix it up and pick Hotel Blue!
I was pretty excited that after being married for 10 years, that David and I would finally get to go to the beach , because we had never been together, I haven’t been since 1999, and I don’t think David has been since he was in elementary school. I liked that we would finally get to mix it up a little bit! I know that a lot of people think going to the beach in October is a bit weird but honestly, when I was growing up and going to church- we used to go to the beach every fall around October so it feels perfectly fine to me! The weather is pretty reasonable usually, and it is less crowded from what I hear as well!
The things for this trip surely came together a lot better than they did for my TN trip as well, it was awesome because I ended up with an activity straight out of the gate, 3 of my 4 nights of the hotel were covered (David and I have never went on a trip longer than 2 nights!) then I got connected with another activity, and 3 different restaurants! Of course you can check out my Myrtle Beach Trip Sponsors Page and I will be writing those reviews up in the next several days too!(Actually, my review of the Chemist craft cocktails & modern cuisine is already up!)
When we went on the TN trip it was my first experience with trying to do a review on that type of thing, so I def. feel like I was more prepared this go around! Also, I was sick on that trip the first day and we had overscheduled our activities so I was very careful to not do that this go around. Oh, and of course that was when David had first having really severe panic attacks and we didn’t know what was going on too so – I liked that everything came together so cleanly, and I really felt like this trip would be better from the start!
The trip was amazing, even though there was a small snafu that was a misunderstanding (Totally not hotel related) and I did have a little panic attack myself that lasted a whole day – but it was just a whole bundle of nerves/lack of sleep thing too- I was in an amazing mood, pushed through ,and I still say my trip was darn awesome 🙂 Oh and thankfully we were not overscheduled either 🙂
I look forward to writing up my experience at the hotel (and other adventures) here in the next few days so keep an eye out!
