Something that I have NEEDED for a while, but never seemed to be able to remember to pick up, is a thermometer! I had one when David & I first got married, one of the oral ones that take some weird little battery (which you would be better off buying a new thermometer than to try to replace the battery!) that I had for a good 4 years at that point! The battery went out in it ages ago, and ..well I never remember that I really could use one until i’m sick of course!
I am seriously shocked that the ways that thermometers have advanced in my lifetime (oh wow, I sound old lol) but seriously I can remember the ones that you had to shake and read where the liquid stuff inside went up on the lines! I never could figure those one’s out. Then of course I knew they made the digital ones too!
The one thing I can remember as a child is being sick as you can be, finally going to sleep, and BAM here comes one of your parents with a thermometer sticking it in your mouth!
Recently I got the chance to try out a new thermometer from kidzmed called the veratemp, which is a non-contact thermometer! (which means if your asleep and someone is taking your temp, you get to sleep!!)
Yes, I know I’m not a kid except at heart, but this thing is NIFTY and AWESOME! You can use this thermometer to measure things other than body temperature including bathwater, babies bottle and even the temperature of a room!
It is VERY simple to use. There are 4 buttons Mode, C/F (for Celsius or Fahrenheit) Mem(memory) and Scan! The thermometer comes with a booklet, a storage pouch, and the 2 AAA batteries you need to operate it (score for regular batteries!)
You simply insert your batteries, hit scan and choose your mode! You have body, room or surface temp. Then hit scan again! That’s all you have to do! Instantly, as soon as you hit the scan button you will have your reading! I have had a blast testing this thing out with me, my mom, the hubs and even the cat! We also used it to figure out how cold it was during our recent bout with no heat!
Another neat thing is that there are 3 different colors for your light up screen! If your temperature is in a normal or low range it will be green. If the temperature is in a more medium range it will be yellow. If you should be getting a high reading it will light up red!
