Many of you know that I really love to take pictures, but may have noticed I have really not been into it in the last year or so. I don’t know if I have gotten spoiled with my iphone camera (probably!) or that I still miss that Nikon I had a few years ago. (Even though, my dad gave me a nikon for my birthday, because he had gotten one for free with his purchase of a rifle scope!) Either way, I am really hoping that in the new year I can get back in the swing of things !
You know something that I have noticed though and well you probably have to, is that ever since everyone started going to Digital photography, guess what? You probably don’t print out even a portion of the pictures that you take! I know that personally I have them hoarded on flashdrives, flickr, facebook, memory cards, etc.
I can remember as a child when my mom used to send off her film and it was such a surprise when you would get your pics back.. seeing what was what, and what was on that roll even perhaps, because sometimes rolls would be mixed and all that good stuff. I can even remember sending off my own film (110, 35mm). I did like when we finally got the 1 hour photo as well, because you got them back faster.
Now, everything is instant. If you don’t like a pic it gets deleted (which I am not knocking, it cuts down on wasted space and what not for sure!) I know the last time we even had a film camera at an event was 5 years ago at our wedding! I had got some of those disposable ones for the tables (and apparently got lots of ground pics ..??? seriously?? )
Plus, my mom has a really fancy professional 35mm camera that my dad bought her years and years ago that costed like 800 bucks! That is also the last time I can remember actually having pictures developed!
I tell you all of this to tell you, about the site that I discovered recently Mailpix.com! Mailpix is a nifty little site that has many different goodies for you to choose from that are made from, well.. have you guessed it yet? Your pictures!! They also offer prints of your pictures! You also get 100 free 4×6 prints when you sign up & unlimited storage for life. There are so many options to choose from!
The awesome folks at mailpix graciously gave me a credit to let me choose some items to write a review on. I went bananas! I was so excited. I have always wanted to have some photo goodies, especially some that had to do with that wedding from 5 years ago!
One thing that came in really handy was the fact you can connect your facebook account and get access to those pictures that you have on facebook! I know that it has became a habit of mine to throw everything on facebook, so it’s really nice to be able to access my pictures that might not be available somewhere else, because they were taken on my phone, uploaded to facebook and got deleted!
So what did I get?(Warning extreme wedding pics over load..sort of lol) Also, it was my original plan to include pics of my actual goodies, but in my experience it is really hard to get a good pic of glass /shiny items, which was a good portion of what I got!
I have ALWAYS ever since I knew there was such a thing, wanted a photo blanket! I had one of our wedding pics put on it, and I love it! It is fleece and soooo pretty! I am actually thinking about keeping it on the back of the couch, but I don’t really want to because it would probably get dirty pretty fast with everyone being around it. Right now I keep it folded up in the closet under my steps and use it at night when I need to cuddle up and get warm! I have also thought about making it into a wall hanging. It measures about 40×60 so it is a very decent size!
Next up I decided to get some of my favorite pics made into photo coasters!I did this mostly because I am sick of David’s crown royal ones, lol. You can pick one image and make 6, or you can do each of the 6 a different pics. I did 3 of my favorite scenery pics that I have taken (snow, mountains, and sunset) and 3 cats(Shadow, Big Boy, and Sam) They are glass and the pics look so awesome and shiny! Plus they wipe up easily if you get water from your glass/beverage on them. I really love getting to see some of my favorite pics more. Especially the one of Shadow! (He disappeared 3 years ago almost!)
I have a few reusable grocery bags, but I don’t think you can ever fully get enough of them! Especially since one of my favorite stores that I shop at doesn’t do grocery bags unless you pay for them! This thing is sturdy as can be too, compared to some of my other bags that I would actually consider to be flimsy! I had a picture of my little furry devil, Sam put on this one! I like to be able to tote him around with me. Everyone always tells me how cute and nice he looks. Oh, and they love his green eyes. If they only knew what a meanie he really is! (Ok, he does give hugs SOMETIMES). It is made of recycled materials and, the picture is on both sides!
I also got a small wooden keepsake box with a photo tile, which worked out perfectly to put the coasters that I ordered in! I had another wedding picture added on this one! At first I was like ok, I love this little box, but I didn’t know what to put in it, and it came to me that the coasters would fit in it! Plus, it is lined with felt so that’s a nice addition as well. I might eventually use it for something else, but for now I think it makes a great coaster box!
The last thing I got was a glass cutting board. I neglected the wedding pics here and went for a picture of david and I from a few years ago on 4 th of july! You know, back when I was skinnier and such? lol. Anyways, to personalize a cutting board with a picture was just really intriguing to me, and I don’t think I had ever heard of this option before? Oh, and feel free to laugh at me because when I took it out of the packaging I was like why is it reversed and faded. Hint: I had it upside down lol. It has a textured surface, and has the little rubber feet on the bottom to help keep it in place!
In all I was really impressed with how these items turned out! They are so so very cute, and help personalize everything right down to even the kitchen! I also have to say that with all the glass items, I was understandably nervous that something could get broke! Seeing as how nothing was broke,I was very impressed with the packaging as well!
There is so much to choose from, and they have some awesome promo codes to take advantage of right now- 12/31 So be sure to check those out as well!
In all, I am VERY happy with my goodies and look forward to using them in years to come! Look for a possible giveaway coming soon as well!
I was provided with a credit to mailpix.com in exchange for my honest thoughts feelings and opinions on the items and the website. All opinions thoughts and ideas ,et al are honest and my own. I was not required to write a positive review!
