We all know (hopefully) by now that I am a wine fanatic! I was especially excited to get to try a new offering of wine, by one of my favorite brands, Barefoot in exchange for a review!
Barefoot has came up with a new variety of wine called Barefoot Refresh, which is more of a wine spritzer! It is light, refreshing, flavorful and lightly carbonated!
There are 4 different blends of wines to choose from
Crisp White- a chenin blanc and Riseling mix
Sweet white: pinot grigio mixed with moscato
Summer Red: Pinot’ Noir Rose’ blended with moscato
Perfectly Pink: White Grenache with Chenin blanc and moscato
The wines that I chose to review were the summer red, and well you all know my love for pink so I decided to go for the perfectly pink as my second choice! I really rarely ever drink white wine so these just seemed to be logical choices for me.
Before I got the wine, I didn’t really know a lot about it and I was really surprised to find out that the wines were blended! I typically don’t like the regular run of the mill fancy type varieties of wine, I think a lot of them are bitter and they just aren’t my glass of wine! However, with them being blended it opened me up to a whole new wine experience! That and the fact that these wines are lightly carbonated! How neat is that? I hadn’t ever had carbonated wine before either. To me, it was almost like sipping on a wine soda!
The Summer Red was the first one I decided to give a go! I mostly always drink red wine ! I am actually already a moscato fan, and I believe I have had Pinot Noir before, but I didn’t know they made it in a Rose’ color? I love when I learn new things! This particular wine is one that has raspberries and oranges as hints and the primary flavor you get is fresh picked berries! I LOVED it. Everything mixed together so well! It is like Summer in a bottle! I will def. be keeping that in mind for the fall and winter months!
Perfectly Pink was next up! I hadn’t really ever had a pink wine before (well , a few here and there but not enough to say I am a pink wine expert or anything!) Anyways, I have to say I think it might have won me over more than even the red did! It is a blend of White Grenache, which I had never heard of, Chenin Blanc(which I have had before and actually liked!) and my favorite Moscato! The flavors that are in the wine are mandarin oranges, peaches, and raspberry and cherry. I will be the first to tell you I was like um, I don’t think that is all gonna go together very well! However, IT DID and it was GOOD!!
In drinking these wines, I found myself not really pairing them up with something to eat, but enjoying them while doing my evening activities like catching up with my gals on the BE group and just while relaxing and watching tv! These are the kind of wines I would like to have later on this fall when I am sitting outside having a fire in the fire pit kind of thing! I know I mentioned before, but these things are seriously like drinking a wine soda! They are just divine! I also think they would be good to have if you were going to have someone over and share them with as well!
I actually, think that I would like drinking these wines as an alternative to beer might be a great thing as well! I mean beer is fine, but towards the fall and winter I seem to strictly go with wine as my alcohol drink of choice a little bit more. Plus it is more fruity and easy to drink in my opinion!I mean I will be honest when I say that beer isn’t the most appealing drink there is by any means!
As far as who would like these wines I think that it could go over with folks like myself that are avid wine lovers, but also those who maybe haven’t gave wine a chance before! I think these wines have a lot of good things going for them, and I would def. recommend them to people!
To sum it all up I think these are great choices! I am hoping to be able to try the other 2 because I know that I am not a white wine person, but after drinking the other 2, I want to give them a try! I really liked the fact that the wines were blended versions of “fancy” wines and that they mixed so well! I know they will become one of my staples when it comes to drinking wine in the future.
