Depending on how long you have known me and/or been reading this blog, you might know of my total HATE for banks! David and I have had a bad history with banks in the past,with various things. The bank we have right now is O.K. but I still as a general rule don’t have any use for a bank in my life. If it wasn’t for the fact he needs an account to have his check direct deposited, and he won’t change to anything else I wouldn’t ever have a thing in this world to do with one!
Recently Card.Com contacted me about doing a review of their prepaid visa debit cards, and I was instantly intrigued! I had never used a prepaid card personally before, even though I have always considered them to be great ideas, and especially bank alternatives for the most part! Card.Com has an amazing selection of designs that you can choose from, which I haven’t really found that you have that option anywhere else! You pretty much just get a standard issue boring card. With Card.com you have over 500 options to choose from ..from Tv shows, causes, fashion and more!
To get a card was really simple. I didn’t know what in the world to expect at first. All I had to do is give some information about myself: Name/Address/etc and my SSN! I was a little sketchy about my SSN but they are financial institution, and so it was just something that had to be given! After that it took about 10 days or so for my card to come through the mail! The way it was packaged was like I was getting a birthday card or christmas card! It was kinda neat! 
As far as design I chose one of the Nancy Drew themed cards because I read the books and played the computer games once upon a time! I was torn between choosing it or choosing a carebear one! Child of the 80’s right here!
Some more things that I like about this card are the key features that it has, other than the option to choose my own design are:

Also they don’t do a credit check, and of course it is safer than cash, just to name a few things!
What could be better? You have all the perks of a debit card without all the annoying hassle of having a bank account and worrying about overdrawing and all of that mumbo jumbo! They even include a form you can fill out and give to your employer so that you can have all your funds put on the card!
The only thing in my world that I don’t like Is I know I won’t be able to put $800 a month as a transfer to it, so I would get charged the $5.95 a month maintenance fee, but let me tell you I am very tempted to just do that! My money is mostly on my paypal card, and it is not pretty, and it still has my maiden name on it, because paypal is such a pain to change (certified marriage license copy? pfft!) Sometimes pretty wins out in the end!
I really like the design of my card, all the features that it has, and I look forward to getting to use it more in the future! If you are looking for a way to get access to your money that doesn’t include a bank, I highly suggest you check out card.com prepaid debit cards as well!
