Alrighty who out there doesn’t eat chips? Anyone? I LOVE chips, but I haven’t really ever tried kettle chips that many times. Recently I got the chance to review Hawaiian style kettle chips, and well as an overall comment I have to say they were very scrummy!
The Hawaiian style kettle chips come in 4 different flavors: Wasabi, Luau BBQ, Sweet Maui Onion and Original. I got the chance to try all of the flavors except Wasabi!
The Original chips were my favorite! I don’t know why but I’m one of those girls that prefers vanilla ice cream. I guess I’m simple and original no? ha ha. They had just enough salt, they were crispy and so very..Potatoes flavored.
The Luau BBQ flavored chips were pretty awesome as well. They were a little more spicy than your average barbeque chip though. I mean.. I can eat pretty hot foods but these were a bit much even for me. I had to sacrifice my bag to David and he loved them. However, he did agree they were a bit up on the spice chart!
The Sweet Maui Onion were the ones that I thought by the name of them would be my favorite out of all of them until I read the ingredient list. They had a cheese flavor added in to them. I don’t know why but that totally turned me off ..I am not a big cheese fan at all. However I did give them a taste, you couldn’t really taste a cheese flavor and they were quite good. I couldn’t get past the idea of cheese though, so I gave them to David as well lol.
In all though I was impressed with the quality of the chips and the varieties that are available in the Hawaiian Kettle Style Chips line!
They are also having a T-shirt design contest for those creative types out there!
From May 15, 2011 to August 31, 2011, entrants can submit an original t-shirt design by going to www.hawaiianbrandsnacks.com and clicking on the “Hot Hawaiian® T-Shirt Design Contest” banner. In addition to bragging rights, the Grand Prize winner will also receive a three-day/two-night trip for two to Hawaii including airfare and hotel stay (ARV $3,100)! Five runners-up will each receive one of the following prizes: 1) discounts on surf boards, board shorts, and bathing suits from a major national retailer (ARV 20% discount); 2) a boogie board (ARV $50); 3) a one-year supply of Hawaiian® Kettle Style Potato Chips (ARV $165 or 52 bags). In all I really enjoyed these chips, and I look forward to seeing them at my local store in the near future!
