I know it seems that everyone always does the whole “new year, new me” thing a the beginning of the year and most people come up with goals to be more healthy and work out and eat better and all of that kind of thing. I have to admit to being on that bandwagon a bit myself so when people knock others who have those sorts of attitudes and goals, i’m like well to each their own- which has became my attitude for a lot of things because what works for one person doesn’t work for someone else in lots of situations!!
David and I have had the goal to eat better /workout/loose weight for quite some time but it is very slow going for us… A lot of times I don’t think it is so much of what we eat but the quanity of it /the not working out part! However, if you have noticed I have done little things to improve upon what we are eating and or what I am cooking with like the algae oil I reviewed and the low sodium and unsalted for broths- and even using my instant pot for most things that I cook.
When I got contacted to do a review from NY Style Pita Chips, this def. fit in with the eating more healthier snack options- especially for me because we all know how obsessed with salty things I tend to be vs sweet things! I was lucky enough to receive a bag of each flavor- which makes the reviews all that more fun and easy to write- I love just breaking down flavors and talking about them!
Also, they are baked twice and never fried- which of course makes them better for you than regular chips. They are also more crunchy and less messy! I love the not as messy thing because David (as well as my Dad, and an ex boyfriend I had back in the day) tend to just grab a whole handful of chips and shove them in their mouth if you know what I mean. That and popcorn!
Alright let’s break down the flavors- and before we get started I will say that I have found this chips a bit more filling and satisfying in general than a normal chip,I think because of the texture and them not being made out of potatoes too, and being made out of Mediterranean pita bread!
Red Hot Chili Pepper– These were likely my favorite of the bunch , and just happened to be the first ones that I tried- coincidence I swear! You all know how I am a little salt feign, but I also have this thing for tangy mixed in with hot- seriously don’t get me started on hot wings and hot wing sauces- I am like the pickiest person ever when it comes to that! So I guess you can say these kind of reminded me of my fave wing sauce- which is no small feat! I have to say I do hold to the old saying that I can eat fire, but now these were a little bit to the wicked side but I didn’t mind that!
Garden Fresh Ranch– Now I liked these – and I am probably the most picky person with ranch- maybe more so than wings- but they were a little more subdued than I thought that they would be. ..which isn’t a bad thing- they just needed a tiny bit more punch to them to be perfect in my world! I am honestly so picky about ranch (ok maybe you are seeing where those I am picky with food rumors come from that I always mention lol) but I generally only eat it if I make it at home! I may or may have not made up a little of my dressing and dipped them in it and it was perfection!
Sea Salt: Ok, I do have the rumors that float around about me being picky (hello food allergies/and stuff I just don’t like) but I also have a rep for liking plain stuff- that is why the sea salt ones might come close to being my 2nd faves! First of all I have been on a sea salt kick for the longest time, especially since I find it is more salty, you use less of it and it is better for you too! Especially with David’s high blood pressure and my tendency to be into salty snacks! These were perfect for me!
PARMESAN, GARLIC & HERB: Alright- I have that rep for not eating cheese- I am not opposed to cheese flavors for the most part though- though I admit the only time I have ever really had Parmesan is maybe lightly sprinkled on a breadstick and I do find it to not be a favorite- but mixed in with the garlic and herbs of these chips- guess what it reminded me of? A breadstick! Which makes so much since sense considering the pita bread aspect. I liked these a lot too!
Now we are up to the last two flavors which I haven’t got to try just yet! I will tell you what they are and give you a little commentary, and hopefully when I get to try them I remember to come back and update you!
Chia Seeds & Quinoa – I have actually had some crackers before that were made out of these ingriedients and they were amazing! These will likely be the first of the last 2 bags that I open and try!
Ancient Grains and Flaxseed– These totally remind me of something that my dad will like. I always like the thought of ancient grains- they sound so.. just good for you -do you not agree? We are always picking on my dad that he would eat dirt because he likes really healthy stuff. …and things that do frankly taste like dirt! I think though that we won’t have that sort of problem with these chips, but I will probably let him be the one to try them with me and let him give me his opinion just for fun 🙂
In all, I have really enjoyed the NY Style Pita Chips that I have tried so far,and we haven’t had any regular chips in this house pretty well since I got these at the beginning of the year- which in knowing how chip obsessed I am is saying a lot! I am sure that I will enjoy the other 2 varities as well, and will do my best to remember to come back and leave a short note about the 2!
