It Started with Pinterest:
Sometimes browsing on Pinterest can lead to an obsession! Actually browsing on Pinterest can lead to many things lol!Actually, not that long ago I was browsing through Appalachian State themed goodies. What can I say? I am having Boone and Appalachian withdrawals! So Anyways, I was browsing and found a Appalachian State themed locket and I was hooked! I tried frantically to find someone to work with me on a review based on what I had seen, but try as I may I wasn’t having any luck!
Inspiration:
Appalachian State colors are Black and Gold (Yellow works, because well.. it just does. This is why I bought my Nokia Lumina 1020 phone in Yellow & Black!) Oh, and I even have a black and gold Vapor E-Cig thingy too. I blinged it out with Appalachian written on it too!
Basically the concept was a black locket, black and gold accent stones, a football helmet and the letters A S U. I wanted to add in a football, but other than that I rather liked the one I had saw on Pinterest! I would show you the inspiration piece but I don’t have that kind of permission and it was made by a different company so ..just take my word for it!
I had tried several different companies , but one of the main problems wasn’t exactly finding someone who would work with me (although I had some trouble there too lol) but the Black locket was almost near impossible to find.
One day I was browsing a friends blog who had just joined up with BE Society: Lauren from Lauren Paints, and she had a banner on her page for a locket company that I hadn’t heard of, so I decided to check them out and give it one more try! You never know right?
Eureka, I found someone to work with me!
The first thing I had to find was that elusive Black locket! I had tried to fathom having it in gold, which I am not a big fan of and even Silver.. but in my mind it had to be black! I was happy to see that this new found company had a black locket and sent off an email about what I was looking to do! I was happy when I got the answer back that they would in fact be wiling to work on me with this review!
The company who wanted to take the review plunge with me? Spirit Lockets!

Putting it all together(and Choices)
I sent over a picture of the aforementioned inspiration piece, told them I wanted the football added in and waited to see what they could come up with! I was really surprised when Spirit Lockets came up with 2 different options for me (and they even pieced them together so I could see them as well) The even added in a silver megaphone dangle as well, which was awesome and something I hadn’t thought of! The only difference between the two options was one had a silver spirit plate in the back that said “Team”.
Which to Choose:
I did a vote on my facebook blogger group as well as my personal page. I of course picked the one I liked best beforehand and just saw what the ideas were that people had. I actually wasn’t shocked when I picked the one that was least popular lol, but I was really shocked that it was the one that my mom picked as well. Generally we do NOT agree on these sorts of things!
I ultimately went with the one that I chose from the beginning- the one with the spirit plate in it!
Unfortunately when I got my locket the spirit plate was not in the envelope so I was a bit sad, but they did make it right for me. After having my heart set on it I REALLY wanted that Spirit Plate,so I was happy that they made it right.
Believe me, I understand mistakes and such (do we all remember the whole set of name labels I got with Nicole on them? ). We are only humans after all! I just thought that the necklace looked “Naked” with out it!
My Necklace:
Isn’t it GORGEOUS? I did have them add in a extra gold and black jewel after the fact, but I am REALLY happy with the outcome! Here is how the necklace ended up breaking down:
