When I first heard the news that a fellow blogger had died, I was immediately sad and wanted to know WHO and what happened. Any death is tragic, but the circumstances around this death just put icing on the cake.
I did NOT know Christine from Adventures of a Thrifty Mama, but her death and the death of her son have deeply touched my soul. I knew OF her, but never met her and really didn’t follow along, but that is really beside the point. Any blogger out there is a friend of mine!
Christine was a fellow blogger with 4 children. She had an estranged husband who killed her, her son and himself on Thursday evening. They had 3 children together that were with her mom at the time. Thank God those sweet babies were NOT at home and their lives were spared in this tragic event. I do not know how their grandma broke the news of what happened to them ,or even if they were told what happened. I can’t imagine telling children such a horrible thing especially at the ages of 4, 6 and 8 years old. I can only imagine.
I know that any event like this is tragic but for 3 young children loosing their mom, brother and ….yes even their dad( I know he did this, but he was still their dad and we don’t know what sort of relationship they had with him. They probably just knew his as their father and didn’t know of underlying issues) and it is the holidays and now top it off with the fact that They are not allowed back at the home to collect any of their personal belongings including toys, clothes, etc which is also sad, and we at Blogging Empire Society are working together to send the kids an awesome care package!
I will update this further and include some pics of the items that we will be sending along.
Domestic violence is a HORRIBLE thing. It can come in so many different forms, and in so many different degrees. These people live in a constant hell of not knowing what could happen to them and those that they care about, especially their children. I cannot imagine living such a way. I do know a few people in my BE society group that do know, and that is how we all decided to get involved in helping out! I know that my mom always let people put up the information for womens shelters in the bathroom at her work. I always asked her why the bathroom, and she explained it to me like this. Think of the one place a woman goes in public that a boyfriend/husband doesn’t follow her. I never thought about it like that.
I think what is especially shocking in this situation is that Christine had tried in the past to get help and there was such a violent path that people say they were not Surprisedhat it happened. I would hope to goodness if something like this ever happened to someone I knew or myself people didn’t say that they basically saw it coming.
Jaime from beantownica is one of the gals who is helping with getting out there and getting goodies for them, and I am glad for it. I plan to help with the costs of shipping personally. I know that Jaime is a awesome lady who has survived through domestic violence herself, and I know that this deeply touched her heart as she was the one who came up with this awesome idea for us to work as a group to help out. I truly appreciate it
If you would like to help us out with shipping you can paypal the money to me at sweetnichole@gmail.com (don’t leave out the H , and yes it comes in my first and maiden name K—- S—)and note that it is for Christine Keith’s children, and I will send it to Jaime.
If you want to help with our efforts you can now check out our gofund account here:
Any excess money will be used to add goodies to the package, and we will also donate some of the money to the fund that is set up if we have extra. We are also including things that we think that Christine’s mom /family would like as well. I know that so far we have 2 large bags of goodies!
If you want to donate items direct, I do have an address but I am trying to verify that it is legit(you never know) by contacting Christines church and making sure. For any questions or further info about donating towards BE’s contribution you can email me at Nichole@Autumn-Rain.net or Info@Be-Society.me
As far as money, you can contribute directly right through Christine’s church by clicking here
