I have always been terrified of glass dishes and knives. I think it stems from being afraid that something will break on me in the dishwater, which has happened before. As far as knives I only use them when I absolutely have to, and I do not wash them myself either! I have luckily only been cut once, and that was last year, so where the fear steams from I am not sure!
So you would be surprised to find out when I learned there were such a thing as glass straws I wanted to try them out! I don’t know, something just called to me with them! It isn’t like I totally avoid glass or anything. So I got the chance to review some glass straws from Glass Dharma I was pretty excited!
Why Glass Straws ? & More Info:
I know that in most houses you probably use a lot of disposable goods that would have a non disposable counterpart such as paper plates instead of dishes, and paper towels and napkins when you could use a cloth napkin, just for a few examples. I know that I use these things myself, so I am not saying anything about them. That is the kind of world we live in! I don’t use as many as some people I know, and I do try to “do my part” in not using so many when at all possible.
I was also happy to learn that these straws are made in the USA! I always like to support USA made products when I can! Also,They are made out of the same glass that you would find in a pyrex product as well, which is called borosilicate glass. I think that finding that out helped me a little bit with my glass aversion, lol because I have always found pyrex to be very sturdy made and never had one break on me!
In case one of your straws does happen to break you can send it back because it has a lifetime guarantee against breakage! They also have a 100% satisfaction guarantee as well
Straw Sizes & Varieties
I was lucky enough to receive 4 different straws (they come in a variety of styles/lengths,etc) That way you can use them in various sorts of cups/glasses and with various sorts of textures of drinks. To me they can just perk up your drink!
The straws that I received (and my thoughts on each) were:
Decorative Dot 7.mm x 6.25: The one that I received has red dots and totally reminded me of the sort of straw to use in a fancy drink like a cranberry and vodka in a cute glass. It is a shorter type of straw
Beautiful Bend 9.5mm x 9: This reminded me of a regular straw that you would use with a bend in it. I don’t know why but when I think of straws I generally think of a straw with a bend. Maybe this is because of the straws I typically have around the house have bends in them! would be perfect in almost anything!
Simple Elegance:12.5mm x 9 This is my favorite, and it would be perfect for a thicker sort of drink like a smoothie or something of the sorts. I just think it is so pretty because it is straight. I am a sucker for straight lines so to speak!
Decorative Dot 9.5mm x9: The one that I got was green dots and it reminded me of a bigger version of the other decorative dot that I received. I think it would be perfect to spruce up a bigger holiday beverage, and maybe even the christmas punch that we do in my family!
Packaging, Extras and More!
These were packaged in individual boxes,(inside a normal sized box) and a couple of them included cleaning brushes as well. It is important to note that the cleaning brushes are not automatically included, so you should order them separate if that is something that you are interested in. They also make hemp storage bags and family pack carriers as well.
I look forward to using my glass straws in the future for many years to come! If you want to find out more about Glass Dharma you can find them on these various social media networks in addition to their website: Flickr Twitter Facebook Blog
