David and I have had a single cup coffee brewing system since they practically hit the market. I think all together we had 3 different versions of them. I honestly have to say I probably didn’t use it enough to constitute the money that we tied up with them not only the device, but the actual cups as well. We had one of those little make your own things but we didn’t seem to ever use it that much either.
I guess even after having 3 of them , I just wasn’t all that impressed. I know my parents ended up with 2 of them and the last one I think we just set it out by the dumpster here at the apartments and i’m sure someone picked it up! So when I was putting together the Holiday Gift Guide and I got the offer from Ninja to review a Ninja Coffee Bar, I was like YES, please send it to me it looks awesome!
Like I Said just above- it looks amazing! I love how sleek and pretty that it looks! I mean take a look! It fits right in with my kitchen – pretty much everything we have anymore is a stainless steel look in our small kitchen appliances anyways -If we had one of the remodeled apartments here we would be sporting a stainless steel fridge/dishwasher and stove so it would really fit in then! As far as the sleekness- I would have really loved this when we lived in town and had NO COUNTER space and I had to use the washer and dryer (they were in the kitchen) as counter space lol
Firstof all I liked the concept of being able to makewhatever kind of coffee you want right at home- David is big on a certain chain of coffee stores and every time he is near one he’s spending ridiculous amounts on coffee- luckily we don’t have one closer than about 15 minutes from us! The Ninja coffee Bar also lets you choose weather you want just a cup, but you can choose to make a travel cup, a half pot or a whole pot!
Another thing I am shouting praises about though is you can by REGULAR coffee in any size that you so desire- in any flavor and whether you wanted caffeine or not/roast/etc that you desire and use it in the Ninja Coffee bar- just like the old times when folks used a regular coffee maker- which in my mind will save you tons of money over time -especially if you are someone who is using it for a single cup like I mostly do- I just have to say have you seen how much one individual cup packs cost at the store- and if you divide that up per cup it is just way too much!
Also- sometimes it was harder to find non caffeinated or a certain flavor that you might want in those- and don’t get me started on the packs that were supposed to be available to make a whole pot- they like never existed they were so hard to find! Oh and while we are on the subject you are perfectly able to make ice beverages as well! I can see this even working with loose tea and such too in the future which will be great for me come summer time- I will have to remember to let you know how it goes!
Another favorite thing is that you don’t have to buy filters- the filter is totally washable- which is just this whole funny story when David used to be obsessed with saying he was going to buy washable filters for the house when we lived at the old apt- I actually banned the word washable filters for quite some time. Again this is a great way of saving money- which is always a good thing!
One thing that always gets me when it comes to buying something- is when it comes with EXTRA’S! I love them! The ninja coffee bar came with a milk frother, a travel tumbler, a measuring spoon and even a Recipe book. Now I know when I say Recipe book you are likely thinking some skinny little pamphlet type deal and you probably don’t even really care right?
This recipe book is an actual RECIPE BOOK with a ton of “fancy” recipes with color photos and step by step instructions for you to follow! I am talking about 100 recipes and so if you aren’t creative (like me) you will have plenty of inspiration of not only hot beverages to make, but iced ones as well
I haven’t got to make any “fancy” drinks just yet because we have been so busy with the Holidays and whatnot but I am REALLY looking forward to being able to make the iced ones when we get to an “official spring” weather here in the south again (you might well know we have been having crazy warm weather this winter) because I love coffee but I have never been one to drink it in the spring/summer because of the heat 🙂 I don’t really like store bought iced coffee so this should be a welcome option for me to be able to pick, choose and customize 🙂
I am very much looking forward to using my Ninja Coffee bar in the future and I know that David is too- especially with him working a little earlier in the mornings than normal for the next several weeks- I am surprised he isn’t trying to take it out to his work and use it or stop in a few times a day for a refill! With all the ways to customize from the size, the flavors and all the recipes what more could you want? I also love that it will be saving me money in the end too!
