Paying EXTREMELY too Much for our old Service:
You might have saw on instagram (you should totally follow me on there- if you didn’t know it is my favorite social network I am @xxpollypocket and you can easily find your way to me from the sidebar!) that I said I would be reviewing a cell phone service (and well- they were kind enough to send me the phone to try it out with) soon.
In case you can’t tell so far, this is going to be a review for Freedom Pop Wireless. I was really excited to get to do a review for them, because I have pretty much not had a cell phone since last spring /very early summer. I am sorry but paying our old cell phone bill , which was not only my phone, David’s phone and his mom’s phone but we also were paying not only for the service, but the devices which also included 2 tablets.
Also, we had got the service originally in January and we never got a bill that was ever what was supposed to be “right” by any standards and the bill was never the same 2 months in a row! It was mass chaos and we were paying well over $150 for them- and that didn’t include whatever David’s moms part of the bill was. We finally just let them go- we had anticipated filing for bankruptcy sometime last year- which we did end up doing in August and it was finalized in December I believe it was.
Back to Home Phone Only 🙁
You couple all of that in with paying $900 for rent and utilities, and 65 for internet and then $350 for the car.. and well it just wasn’t worth it. We truly were better off bundling the phone, internet and cable by far, which is what we ended up doing for a really long time. David wanted the cable anyways so he could watch football so…that was just the way we did it-
I went all those months without a cell phone- it sucked but I made it through- I did miss it but- I am home a lot of the time anyways because lets face it we only have one car and David works sometimes from 4 a/m to 6 p/m – if we travel I am generally with my mom and dad and if I am out and about I am hardly ever more than 20 min from home and a lot of times I am out with my mom if it is through the week.
It was annoying though especially for David because he uses his phone a lot for directions when his work sends him places and things like that. Plus we all know I am addicted to checking in places on FB and all that kind of thing- I took my ipod everywhere but you’d be surprised at how many places you can’t get wifi at! When tax time rolled around David got himself a phone, but I told him I would just be fine and we’d keep the house phone a bit longer. I kinda didn’t know what I wanted and I still thought having two lines on any pay as you go plan was just a little bit too much especially having to buy the actual phones and service out right.
Say Hello, Freedom Pop Wireless!
I got in touch with Freedom Pop wireless because I had saw several of my blogging friends talk about them and I conveyed my interest of working on a review because I had heard good things about the prices of the devices, the service and their plans so when they said yes I was more than excited- in all reality it was my only chance of having a cell phone for the foreseeable future.
A Little Background on Freedom Pop Wireless- They were founded in 2012 and are based out of Los Angeles. Their ultimate goal is to bring you free wireless much in the way that spotify brings people music, and dropbox brings you storage.Pretty awesome concept right? They run off of Sprints ]LTE network, 4G WiMax and 3G CDMA networks.
Devices- Bring Your Own or Save a Ton- and A totally free plan!
You can basically bring your own device if you already have one- you can check compatibility on the website. Then if you want you can have a totally free plan with 200 minutes, 500 mb of web and 500 texts per month. Which means you pretty well have a free phone and totally free phone service.
Of course you have many options on buying a premium phone from Freedom Pop at a really awesome rate- they have several to choose from and I have saw them for as little as around $50 which is a pretty decent price for a smart phone. They have several popular brands such as Iphone and Samsung- LG and more. The phones are certified pre-owned, and you are saving a pretty penny on buying your device.
All Kindsa AWESOME plans
So how about their plans? You will be saving up to 95% vs what you would be paying with “the others” and believe me I have been with ALL of the others both pre-paid and contracts. Here you are with NO contract and the freedom to change your plan as needed without drama. The most popular plan they have for the paid option is the premium 1gb which you can get for around $20 a month and it includes 1gb of web , and unlimited talk and text. If you want to pay for it in advance you can get it for a whole year for only $80 and that is AWESOME.
They also have a few other options and plans- including a $10.99 one that is up my alley because I don’t really do a whole lot online when I am out and about so 500 mb of data doesn’t bother me and the talk and text is unlimited. Of course I like that if I am between paychecks or something I can always just use the 200min option to float me along- although one phone call with my grandma would pretty well eat through that!
Summing it Up:
I am really enjoying my Samsung Galaxy S3 which is this offer: 100% Free Mobile Phone Service + 85% OFF Samsung Galaxy SIII! I had an S4 before so I was o.k. with going back a version- I might change later on and get something like A Note of some sort or an Iphone but for now I am more than happy with what I have. The service works great in my area- I haven’t had any issues to speak of – I know the true test will be when I go to my grandmas in the middle of no where- but nothing works there except a landline so it will be o.k.
I think that being able to save the amount of money that you can save on the Freedom Pop Wireless plans is well worth the effort to make the switch if it is available in your area. I don’t know how much money over the years we have wasted simply trying to have a nice phone and a reasonable phone plan and never really accomplished it until now.
