As you all probably know – if you have read the blog for any length of time- I have as of yet, only been blessed enough to have fur babies and not human babies- that is why my blog tag line became “ramblings of a southern “mama wannabe” blogger”. I have at various points wrote that I am not really sure what the issue is, or that there even is one- I truly believe that it just hasn’t happened yet, but with me getting older I think it might be time to get a little more serious about trying to figure out why/doing better with tracking things and all of that.
I know that I have took a test that is similar to a pregnancy test a couple of times that tells you if you should be able to get pregnant and it always comes back positive so that is encouraging. Of course, I did have cervical cancer and HPV when David and I first got married but the last time I went to a DR about that everything was more than clear and they said there shouldn’t be a problem on my end with getting pregnant. Of course. the problem could be David but .. like I said we haven’t really looked into it on a serious level.
One thing I also admitadly have never been very well at is tracking my monthly visitor/ovulation and that kind of thing. I always have had irregular bleeding except in recent years things have gotten pretty much what is considered “normal” but doing all that counting and tracking your basal tempature and whatever? no…I never did “get it” lol. Of course you can buy ovulation tests but those things aren’t all that cheap, you don’t get that many for the price and you kind of want to be in the ball park with your cycle so you aren’t wasting them if you know what I mean? Oh and you can only use them once too!
This is where my latest handy dandy item for review comes in- I had a friend of mine tell me about this little device called the KNOWHEN advanced ovulation test, and I decided to reach out to them and check it out! The KNOWHEN is a device that uses not pee- but your saliva for being able to check for not just your 4 most fertile days (like a regular pee test) but 5 days.
I didn’t realize that your Saliva could tell you much of anything- but it can! The KNOWHEN can actually track your estrogen changes- the conventional method doesn’t track your estrogen , but your lutensizing hormones and when you are a woman with less than normal cycles (like myself) there is a great potential for less than accurate results to start with. It turns out that when you estrogen level increases your saliva will become more saline.
The Knowhen is a mini ovulation microscope, and it is 98.9% accurate! It is reusable and a ONE time charge of $49- I have a box of 10 ovulation strips that were around 30 bucks if that helps you with a comparrison- and remember those are one time use! I also like how the Knowwhen basically looks like a little lipstick with a little carrier and you can just have it in your purse as well.
The KNOWHEN is really easy to use- you just use it when you wake up with a drop of saliva before you have anything to eat/drink/brush your teeth and wait for it to dry and then look at the results. When the estrogen levels are risen, and therefore making your saliva more saline it will make a distinctive fernlike pattern on the lens, which shows that you are having a fertile day. Afterwards you can wipe the lens clean with the cloth that it comes with and put the cap back on.
KNOWHEN also comes with a awesome app where you can track your cycle, ovulation, and more! Of course, for many reasons this can be helpful for you as well.
I haven’t got to use my KNOWHEN advanced ovulation test just quite yet, thanks to about the time I received mine my cycle went CRAZY for the first time in years ( I bled pretty much almost 2 months!) but I am getting back in the swing of things and I can’t wait to actually be able to use it because I know it is going to make things so much more simplified for someone like me – especially when it comes to saving money, and being able to use the app to track things more efficiently! I hopeful it might be key in trying to help me be a little more serious about getting pregnant and be a little more easy for me as well!
