In case you didn’t know by now- I have 2 fur babies with various personalities- they are polar opposites actually! Sam is my orange cat which we refer to as evil in a orange fur coat, and Marley is my angel, princess baby (she actually had an id tag at one point that had that written on it!) I love them to pieces and even though they are so opposite they do have one thing in common- they both have stinky breath!
Now, Sam he doesn’t eat any people food and he isn’t going to let you brush his teeth- heck he isn’t even really into letting ME hold him- and we are pretty sure i’m the only one he really likes lol. Marley on the other hand I think if we really tried she would let us brush her teeth- though we never really tried we have tried several things to help with her breath- bones, various treats, etc but nothing really has seemed to help.
When I got a chance to review Petsmile I was pretty excited because it is always kind of funny that marley is such a cutie, and we give her baths and she smells all pretty but then she decides to breath right in your face or lick you and you are like holy stars little dog! I know that at Christmas when we were at my grandmas my cousin Brian was like she has stinky breath and then she proceeded to lick him right in the face and it was pretty funny- because she takes up with him when we are there, more than she does with anyone else-so it was kind of like she was saying how dare you say I have stinky breath- but I love you!
About Petsmile
Petsmile is basically pet toothpaste that you don’t have to worry about using a tooth brush for. They have applicator swabs, which is what I use, but you can also use your finger or a toy too. It is london broiled flavored too! It is VOHC approved- yup they actually have a veterinary oral health council- how cool is that? The crazy thing was I really never thought about oral health being important in my pets! However, it is actually the #1 illness that affects pets! Petsmile gets in there and breaks it all down- all of the stains and plaque and bacteria!
It is made with Calprox and helps reduce 40% of gingivitis! Calprox is calcium and phosphates and helps keep teeth and enamel strong- it is gluten free and even soy free , protein free and Kosher!
Petsmile & Marley!
Marley was skeptical at first with me coming at her with a swab with something on it- she was looking at me like o.k the woman has lost her mind! However, when she got up close to it and smelled it, you could tell she was interested and she quickly started licking it off !
It is really simple to use, all you have to do is put a dab of it on whatever you are using to apply it and let them lick it off. At first you might want to use a little bit more, and you might want to concentrate on getting it towards the back of their mouth as well. It also will depend on how old your dog is on the length of time it will take to see results!
I had pretty decent results with Marley in about 4 uses- and I wasn’t even using a little extra at that time and wasn’t concentrating on getting it towards the back of her mouth either! Then… one day we gave Sam wet food and it was tuna one …and because we forgot to sit it up on the counter when we went to the store.. she got into it! However, we are continuing on and things are def. improving!
Summing It Up!
I am really excited to continue using Petsmile Pet Toothpaste with Marley and seeing what further results we achieve (just remind me to put sams food up!) I like that it is easy to use and that it helps with a problem that we weren’t really sure what to do for as well.
Another awesome thing is that a tube of the toothpaste is only around $25 and should last for a years time! For around $2 a month it isn’t that expensive to help keep your fur babes mouth in good health and in turn help keep them healthy in other ways!
