My good friends over at Mailpix.com sent me a message a few weeks back and asked me if I would be interested in reviewing something called the Picture Keeper? I was like the what? lol, So I went and looked it up and I was like, ooh, that sounds neat so yes!!
So What is a picture keeper? it’s this nifty little flash drive gadget that can help with backing your pictures up as if by magic!
I know that I am one of the most paranoid people there is when it comes to loosing my files and especially my pictures! I don’t know how many times that it has happened to me in the past unfortunately more than once! I have had several computer crashes, deleted memory cards, and even cd’s of pictures that got scratched or even the actual cd’s get lost themselves. It’s the most horrible feeling ever! I’m sure i’m preaching to the choir here though, I’m sure everyone out there has experienced something similar at some point !
I am also bad to just upload to facebook /flickr and just delete them off the computer ..which is o.k. I suppose but how if I’d like to have them again in the future if goodness forbid something ever happened to facebook/flickr? and well, it’s even good to have backups of backups sometimes!
Enter my new little friend the Picture keeper! The best thing about it is there is literally NO WORK involved with backing up your pics. You don’t have to go in and select them all and put them on a drive…It’s really good for lazy folks like myself. You just plug it in and it goes to work for you! I mean what else could you want?It even names them with the names you already have in use. It can be used with PC or MAC. It is a win win situation! …and unlike the old compact flash cards and various other sizes of cards this thing works just like a flash drive through USB.
They come in various sizes from 4gb-16gb and even a huge one that can store up to 250,000 photos! OR you can just purchase the actual software and then use whatever size drive you happen to own. As a general rule the 4gb one holds about 4000 pics. Of course this depends on size and all of that good stuff.
If you make an order at mailpix.com you can snag one of these awesome gadgets in the 4GB size for shipping only! just check out the details here : free gift with purchase mailpix.com.
There is also a app that you can get for iphone/ipad that you can back up all of the pics from those devices wirelessly, however I wasn’t able to obtain a code to get to try it out myself(as opposed to paying for it), and with changing to android it would have been handy!
So if you are looking for a quick and easy way to back up your pics I would suggest that you check this gadget out!
