David and I have pretty well NEVER had cable or satellite for TV except for a couple of brief times in the last 9 years! This stretch that we are on right now has exceeded what I had thought we would keep it for because it was cheaper for us to bundle everything while I had no cell phone, and just use our home phone.
Since football season is over and we both have phones again we will most def. be cutting the cord again. We are big fans of seasons of tv on DVD, streaming on a few different sites and we love the savings too! I honestly think that we were married for 3 years or more before we ever had satellite and I hated it! I finally had it out with them when they took our payment out 3 times in a row and only wanted to give me a bill credit- when I had other bills due!
When I got a chance to review for Playster, I was pretty excited, because I am always excited about streaming services and sites, and I love to check them out and have different options in case I can’t find what I am looking for on one site ,or goodness forbid the server/site is acting up (which happens a lot with one of the services I use )
Playster is more than a subscription service for Movies/TV though! They also have options for Books/Audio Books, Games and Music- which makes them a little bit more all inclusive than the normal. You can pick and choose from the services or you can bundle them all together.
If you subscribe to playster for an entire year(and agree to make the payment via your card on file every month) they will also send you a Combo Box, which is a free tablet and headphone set that you can use not only for the service, but in general as well. All you have to do is pay $9.95 and agree to keep the service for a year. For the all inclusive service it is only $24.95 a month, and that is way cheaper than what you would pay for renting movies, buying books, having cable and the like a year.
However, if you are just wanting to do it month to month, and pick and choose what you want on a monthly basis you are free to do that as well, and you can use any web enabled device such as your tablet or phone. I personally have been using it on my huge 10 inch tablet that David gave me when he was tired of it.
Of course, the tablet that they have is a lighter weight tablet and is a fancy upgrade from my kindle 3g with keyboard and makes it fun to read on at night without having to have a book light that blinds David while he tries to sleep when I am laying there in bed trying to read while he goes to sleep!
I was also very much excited with the headphones that they sent, because I had just had my headphones that I have had forever break/start that one ear only/short in them thing, if you know what I mean! They were also a bit nicer than my normal run of the mill headphones that I normally use as well!
Playster is fairly new on the market (Since Summer 2015) and they are still evolving their content and adding new titles weekly! I was most impressed with their selection of books! I know a lot of the ones I looked up were ones that I likely have over at my moms but to have them available readily in a ebook format is totally awesome for me- it also helps me save space over here at my house!
I was also happy to find lots of books that I don’t own and I know that I will be happy as a clam in the sunshine reading via playster this summer. I was telling David that even if I only do the book portion of the service for a while, $9.95 would be less than the cost of lets just say, one pretty little liars book!
One thing to also note is that that Playster is one of the only subscription services that has unlimited audiobooks and ebooks. There’s no credit system to our service. I haven’t ever really been one for Audio books but it is something that I have been interested in for David since he’s not as apt a reader as I am- I read books in a matter of hours- it is a gift and a curse!
I am glad that playster has plans to evolve, and I can’t wait to see where they go in the future, because at this rate the only way they can go is up. I do hope they add more TV and Music for sure – oh and the books too of course! Right now the tv/movie section is mainly movies and I am not a huge movie person believe it or not !Like I say though, I am most looking forward to the future of the service and hope to continue using it in the future! You can find out more about when they add things and what not by following along on their twitter and facebook!
