Something I have always loved to do is listen to music when I am in the bathtub! Years ago I would just tote my big CD player in there and you know- be stuck with whatever CD or Tape (one side lol) or the radio (which would always go to chit and chat as soon as you got in! I actually still did this when I was living in Boone, NC and going to Appalachian State.
Somewhere along the line, I had this neat little thing where you could put your walkman inside and hook it up to a speaker type thing with some cords, closed it up and you could listen to it. Really it wasn’t that much better than using your big boombox except well I guess it kind of was because it was smaller and a little bit more water proof but you still didn’t really have any options to speak of!
Of course I did live in those times before an ipod and before bluetooth! Now you have a lot more options when you want to listen to your music wherever you might want to listen to it, and you aren’t even stuck to music you perhaps “own” you have spotify as well! One such option for listening to your music and such is a bluetooth speaker. We have had a few in the past and I usually tote them out to the porch and listen to music in the evenings like in the late summer and early fall.
Recently though, I got a chance to review a different kind of bluetooth speaker called the SpeakStick waterproof speaker! It is a cute little round waterproof speaker that comes in lots of awesome colors. Of course I got mine in pink, but you can also choose from black, blue, green and white. I was honestly torn because you all know I always have a thing for white electronics!
What is unique about this speaker compared to others- well there are 2 things in particular! First up it has a suction cup on the back of it so that you can stick it wherever you might want, such as on the side of the bathtub or wherever you might want to stick it. The next thing that makes it a little bit different is that you can use it with your phone to have a conversation on because it has a mic built in as well!
Of course this bluetooth shower speaker is compatible with pretty much any device you can think of that has bluetooth- iphone/ipod/ipad and android. This makes it tons of easy to listen to your music library or use a streaming service such as spotify. It comes with instructions and a charging cord. It is pretty straight forward to set up- just like you would set up any bluetooth device.
The operation of the speakstick is pretty straightforward with a button for the power, play/pause,to answer calls and your forward and backwards buttons for tracks. You can also long hold these to either turn up the volume or turn it down. The back button makes the volume go down and the forward button will make it go up- when it gets to the point that it beeps that is as loud as it goes. Just make sure your device volume is up and you should be good to go
I think that the speaker got decently loud, I could hear it with water running in the shower and with the fan running in the bathroom as well! The battery life is also fairly decent at about 6hrs. I haven’t had to charge mine quite yet but it says it takes about 3hrs to charge and i’m not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing as I am not familiar with how long a bluetooth speaker would generally take to charge as our others have battery back up!
I have played a little bit with the microphone part and my mom said she could hear me pretty decently considering my phone is not the best in the world- it is kind of a nice thought to not have to try to answer my phone with wet hands and what not if my mom calls while i’m in the shower- which happens a lot more than you think
I love being able to just sing my little heart out in the shower. My favorite is Adele- I call it Adeling 🙂 I used to do it with our bose, and well now i like doing it in the shower better because of the acoustics- plus it is very relaxing
The Speakstick Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker also has a lifetime warranty and it is very affordable at around $25 with free shipping so if you are looking for a decent unique little speaker you might want to consider picking one up!
