So it is NOT a secret that I am a wine lover! I mean the hard stuff is o.k. and beer is alright, but…wine that is my favorite! I am also the type of person who does like to stick to what I know, but every now and then I get a wild hair and want to be adventurous and try something different. The thing is…it is kind of hit and miss on whether or not I actually like something or not! I am sure that most people feel the same way!
This is where we enter Nichole’s new little best friend: A handy dandy app that I got the chance to do a review on called “Thumbs up wine app” You can get it on android, or IOS.
The app is broke into three basic sections, In Store Search, Browse, and My Wine. I am going to do my best to walk you through each section and break it down and explain the functions!
In Store search: You have the option to pick “why” you are drinking! You have several options to choose from Just sippin’ and even gift options. After you decide this, you can tell it the store that you are shopping in, the type of wine you want(as in Red, White, etc) Then you can get even more specific, then you can pick your price range! From there you will then pop up your list of wine, with the retail value and how much the value of the wine actually is. When you click the name of the wine it will give you all sorts of handy dandy info including tasting notes, food pairings,etc! You also have the option to save it to your My wine list , rate it yourself, and even share via social networks!
You also have the option to freestyle it and choose your store, price range, type, goes with,etc or even type in a wine name region or country! You can put in as much or as little info as you choose and get a list of wines!
The Browse Feature, does exactly what you would think it does you can scroll through and learn about various wines,find videos of basic wine info,videos of what wine goes with? and lots more! There are also videos about the great, the bad/ugly and the controversial when it comes to rating the wines!
A cool thing I also noticed is when you first log in to the app it will give you a number of wines that have been reviewed since I last signed in..which today was 55! I think it is awesome that this app is an on going and updated resource!
The last feature is the My Wine list which is where you can write your own notes, and give it your own rating, for your knowledge in the future!
I have found this app to be very handy in my desire to not always stick to the same wines all the time just because I don’t really know what to pick. I like being able to keep up with things I have tried and want to try as well! I am really enjoying this app, and look forward to using it plenty more in the future!
