One of my favorite things to review are the ones that I get for others, especially when they are for one of my fur babes. Of course, Marley being a dog ends up with more than what Sam does for the most part!  When I started putting together my gift guide back in the mid summer, David asked me if I knew that Carhartt made pet stuff now and I actually didn’t!

I was really excited and knew that I wanted to try to get at least something of theirs to review for Marley for the gift guide. I actually took a while to get in touch with the right person, which was fine -sometimes it happens like that! I originally requested 2 items, but I only got one of the items because of availability, but I was excited to be able to work with them.The  Carhartt Pet Accessories & Gear  line has several items to choose from including beds, car seat covers, blankets and more!

My Family & David LOVE Carhartt

Carhartt has been a big brand that people in my family has always really liked! You probably won’t find any of my uncles that don’t have at least ONE thing in their wardrobe that is Carhartt! I know that David actually gets their jeans as part of his work clothes that he rents from work at a very reasonable couple bucks a pay check- If you all think I am picky when it comes to food, you never have met some one as particular about their clothes as David in your life I promise you that!

I know that my Grandma drew David’s name last year at Christmas and he wanted long sleeve shirts and about every one she ended up getting for him was Carhartt!He also had a Carhartt jacket when we first got together , but as he gained weight he ended up giving it to his brother and he actually just got one last year. I know that their stuff tends to hold up really well and when I was picking what I wanted to review I kept gravitating towards the Carhartt Dog Chore Coat!

Marley’s Wardrobe & why I like her to have warm clothes!

Marley has had several clothing items over the years including a dress, a hoodie and even a cute little pea coat that I got her a few years back. She even has a Kyle Busch Motorsports Bib :)Now, it is no secret that since we got Marley she has gained some weight and my mom had to alter her Pea coat a bit so that she could continue wearing it.

I know some people think it is silly to dress up a pet, but I don’t do it just because I think she is cute – she has really short fur, and after she was microchipped and fixed, her under fur (on her tummy) never grew back except for a tiny bit.She is also very used to being inside, and she usually burrows under blankets and stuff – and I just like the idea of her being warm! I know when we first got her she used to shake a lot and I don’t think it was all related to nerves, because she still does it sometimes.

I always say we live in the south, and it is generally warm 10 months of the year to some level. When it starts getting below 40, I just think that if I like to be warm, I am sure that she is the same way! Especially when we travel to my grandmas and it is colder there/snow /rain and all of that good stuff. It helps keep her dry in those events, just like if you had on a coat you know?

Info, Thoughts & More

Even though I don’t have a Carhartt jacket of my own, and I have been joking that Marley has a better coat than I do (as she should, she is my baby and I want her to have the best 🙂 ) David has one so they kind of “match” in a way- even though his is a different color.

Colors:

The chore coat comes in army green. carhartt brown (which is what we did because it is just so classic) and it also comes in Blaze orange which I think would have been absolutely precious if she was more of a hunting type dog (plus she is black and white so I think she would have look a lot like Halloween in it!)

Sizing:

Now as far as sizing goes I was worried I would mess up because I generally have gotten her stuff in a medium but since she has gained weight. So she was on the Edge of a Small and Medium when it came to the weight so I went for the medium and it worked out pretty well. She is about 23 or so pounds and I know she needs to loose weight, but I figured we’d go bigger just in case! I knew that my mom could adjust it if needed.

Thoughts:

I think that the carhartt label and the pockets might be my absolute favorites on a personal level! I was so happy with the quality of the coat and you could tell it was pretty much just like the ones that they make for people just on a smaller and with the adjustability for a dog. It was like they didn’t skimp on the quality and I really liked that. I didn’t know what to expect at first. The pockets I like because you can put your keys or phone or something in there in case you were going out and about and didn’t want to carry a purse or something like that.

The only thing that is kind of awkward for marley is where she has kind of what I would say are short legs, and she takes big steps , it takes her a little bit to get used to taking smaller strides and it is kind of funny in a way to watch her walk in it ,especially the first few times. I am actually going to have my mom look at it and maybe take it up a tiny bit for her if she can, but it isn’t really a big deal if she can’t!

Summing It Up:

I REALLY think Marley is SO cute in her Carhartt Dog Chore coat and I am always showing people the picture of her in it, since she hasn’t got to wear it outside just yet- but I know that every time I have Marley out in an outfit people just go crazy and tell me how precious that she looks, and I know when people see that this is Carhartt they are going to really think it is something special.

My grandma was disappointed that I didn’t bring it at thanksgiving so she could see it in person, so I am def. going to have to take it for Christmas if I get to go. I think it is awesome that they are making Carhartt Pet Accessories & Gear and I hope that I might be able to get more items in the future.
