As you may well know, or well if you don’t you will now :), David is a certified OCD cleaning freak! I will say all the time I don’t mind being clean, and I would rather have someone who is willing to clean and keep things ship shape than someone who is not, but I think you have to have a balance too. Thankfully he isn’t as bad as he used to be, but he still has his little routine and whatnot and I just let it be. My dad is always saying we are going to die from something crazy because of him cleaning away the good bacteria and what not 😉
When I had another chance to get something cleaning related to review from my good friends over at Shark I was hopeful that they would offer me a vacuum cleaner this time around because that is something David has really been wanting ( I honestly miss when we only had a rug to vacuum! I hate all this carpet!) Luckily that is exactly what they had in mind and they sent me the Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away Speed!
We have basically used someones hand me down vacuum since we have been together- either something my mom had picked up second hand and we were using as 3rd hand or something like that. A few years back we did buy a new vacuum but it hasn’t really been “all that and a bag of chips” if you know what I mean…I mean it has done the job but we knew it wasn’t doing all that great, Â we just didn’t know to what degree! I know that I have seasonal allergies and asthma + we have two pets and trying to keep this place vacuumed is a real chore and it seems like we vacuum up a ton every time we vacuum so you would think we were getting it all right? Well- I’ll let you in on a little secret from the get go:
We weren’t. David vacuumed with our old vacuum first.. and I mean as I have stated he is very in depth and such.. then he went over with the Shark Rotator Powered Lift away speed and we were absolutely shocked to get an entire canister full of fur and such! It honestly looked like we hadn’t vacuumed in FOREVER Â instead of someone who does it several times a week!
You may or may not know that I not only have seasonal allergies but as of the last couple years I have had some allergy related asthma problems , especially in the Fall- They had suggested that maybe I had lots of dust and what not in the house and that I might need to clean a little bit more -especially the carpet and I was like well we have a great vacuum and we are very clean but now that I saw what had been left behind – maybe they were onto something!
There are so many different options for this vacuum it is insane- You can use it as an upright vacuum, you can use it as a canister vacuum, or you can forgo all of those options and straight up carry it around with you if you like! Â There is also a attachment available that you can use on your hard surfaces as well!
Of course since we have pets all the pet tools were most welcome! I know that we like that this vacuum can be used not only on your carpet but it can even be used to vacuum the fur off the couch too! We just have switched couches and we were used to a leather couch where you just swiped whatever of with your hand or a rag. We never really had the correct attachment on our other vacuum that did very well at all!
I haven’t used the vacuum very much personally but I have saw it in action many times, and I have used it a few times. I am very impressed with the features and the results that I have saw. I like the way that it pretty much moves around on its own – you almost have to “hold it back” because it is really powerful! I also like that it rotates really well, and it even has a light so you can see what you are sucking up especially if you are working in a dark spot. It also is very easy to get into tight places!
There are a few things David has said that he doesn’t like but they aren’t HUGE things. One is he says he wishes the canister would hold more because he has to empty it several times during vacuuming the house- especially a couple of times when he’s doing just the living room. He also wishes it had a retractable cord/a cord where he could choose the appropriate length because it seems like it gets tangled easily and comes out of the wall a lot while he is using it.
