It probably isn’t a secret that my favorite reviews to do are those that relate to food and then those ones that are unique…so when you put the two together well- it is like a match made in heaven for me! I guess I have just always been a person that likes to be unique which if you know me- I always have my own style and my own flair for things and I don’t like following the pack so to speak! Oh and you know I am always looking for new ideas for meals and especially quick and easy ones – especially in the summer!
Flowers are Such a Common Gift (Especially for funerals)
Meal Gifts is an company that has one of the most unique approaches to gift giving that I have seen- which is food- which I know at first doesn’t seem like it is all that unique but stay with me, and I will try to paint you a little picture. Think about one of the most common things that people give for a gift- for me the first thing that comes to mind are flowers- especially when someone dies.
I haven’t been to very many funerals but the few that I have been too were just flowers everywhere and then when all is said and done my family was trying to give the flowers to people, store some of them(artificial ones- I think that honestly somewhere there are still flowers stored from my great grandfathers funeral and he died when I was in Kindergarten in 1989!) and take some of them to the cemetery and there is always just seemingly an overwhelming amount of them to figure out what to do with!
I am not saying they aren’t appreciated and I suppose not having ANY flowers at funeral/memorial service would be depressing but I don’t no how many times I have heard my grandma or mom say something to the affect of ” their money would have been better spent on ___________” and I have actually heard her say well they could have went and bought some food for all the people that are attending and what not.
A Gift Of Food: Appreciated & Takes stress off of Family & Friends
I don’t know if it is just the way that funerals go in my family but it is a several days ling event where lots of family shows up and you have a lot of extra people to feed which can get a bit expensive. Then where I am from back in the hills we are an hour out from any sort of town /store other than a gas station so.. it is always trying to schedule out what you need with who is coming in that you know of that can pick things up on their way!
This is why I think Meal Gifts is such an AMAZING find! While there are other holidays that I think giving a gift of food would be awesome – I mean for me anytime someone wants to have a cook out or give me food for any reason I will gladly accept it!
However, I know the struggle of being busy with funeral plans and being in and out of hospitals when someone is sick and being stuck with eating just whatever you can grab! I know that when my great grandma died everything was so scattered that we didn’t even really have anything the first night when I got there and I ended up eating ramen noodles (because it isn’t like anyone expected my grandma to cook at this point!)I just know if we would have had a meal gift it would have been less stressful for all involved as well!
Meal Gifts: Lots of Options!
This would be a great point to tell you exactly what meal gifts is I would suppose?! You all know when I have a story and related information about a review and I feel like it adds to the point I can get a little carried away and off track really easily ;)!
Meal Gifts is a way to send gifts of amazing quality meals to people for whatever occasion you feel that you would want to send a gift for, and they have many price points and menu selections to choose from! You all know what a picky eater I am , but I immediately came up with at least 3 choices that sounded so good to me!There are beef options, chicken options and more including options with soup and deserts- serving sizes from 4-6 or even 8-12!
How The Meal Gifts Process Works:
Basically you pick a meal gift from all the options available- or you can send a e gift card and let the person pick their meal. You can also pick the date for the shipment or you can arrange for meal gifts to call and arrange this date with the recipient. Then they cook up the meal sous vide style (which as a side note I am very intrigued by , and have actually wanted to try myself!) Then they flash freeze it and ship it via fedex in an insulated box with dry ice! It doesn’t take but a couple of days to arrived (not counting the weekend of course)
My Meal Gift: Experience & Thoughts
I received the chicken Marsala meal with dessert and let me tell you when you first look at the price you might think OH WOW that is a bit pricey but it is a TON of food- I am talking POUNDS OF FOOD… I think it is funny though even when you get the package it doesn’t seem like it is that much food. Just take a look at my order
3 lbs of chicken Marsala 2 lbs of tomato Florentine soup 2 lbs of garlic mashed potatoes some breadsticks and a sugar cream pie (it also comes with your choice of carrots or green beans but mine got left out accidentally) so as you can see it is a lot of food for the price!
When my gift arrived it was totally frozen and had the instructions for the meal right on top-this is a good place to note that everything is really easy to heat up and serve- generally under 30 minutes and all of the instructions are provided and easy to follow!
In case you are wondering- and of course you are- it was all very delicious and I even split everything up and made 2 meals out of it 🙂 David and I actually had it originally for our anniversary meal!
So if you are looking for a unique gift option for any occasion- or just a special meal for yourself even- I would highly recommend Meal Gifts! I find it to be very practical and something that is also very helpful at certain times as well!
