Special Note: My actual gift guide post is not up just yet, but this will be featured there and linked back to this post when it goes live 🙂 (it should be up this week sometime I hope- I kind of had it the way I wanted it but it needs tweaked a bit!)
I admit that I do not do a great job with committing to try to exercise and get into some sort of shape- or at least enough to be considered healthy and maybe give myself more energy and whatnot, but I am always on the look out for things that I think might inspire me! David and I do have a fitness room here at the apartment place but they really don’t have a whole lot going on in there!
We tried the gym, but it is just extra money that we don’t need to spend especially with having the fitness room, plus we couldn’t really be consistent with it because of David’s work schedule.Every now and again I get a whim and go walking around the apartment place with Marley, but with the heat here in the South we have heat pretty much right up until it turns into Winter so that might not be the best option as well!
I have always figured if I had my own way to exercise right in the apartment- like some sort of equipment – not a video or a video game made for that purpose- I might be a little more interested in trying to at least be more active. So, when I heard about a exercise bike that would fit under your desk, that could be used while you are working, I figured it would be something that might be for me- seeing as how I do spend a lot of times sitting at my desk when blogging and what not! Â I was happy that I got the chance to review this item – it is called DeskCycle !
Now I mentioned before I would like to exercise and loose a little weight (which I am just not that dedicated to just yet- need to work on cutting out some stuff in my diet and stuff first) and maybe to get a little bit of energy because I do sit a lot in a days time. I was interested though to learn that people who exercise before work or while they work actually are happier, have less stress and are more productive- which are all things that could def. help me out!
Basically the DeskCycle is a mini exercise bike that will fit under your desk! It is less expensive, takes up less room and it is easier to incorporate into your daily activities. It is also very quiet because it uses magnetic resistance- so if you take it to an actual job you won’t be distracting your co-workers.
You don’t even have to use it at your desk- you can use it when you are sitting on the couch or in a chair doing almost any activity, such as watching tv, talking on the phone, etc! Â The DeskCycle is also the shortest mini exercise bike available at only 10 inches! I know that my desk is actually a re purposed table that I found on the side of the road with a free sign on it in moms subdivision so it is a bit tall but I have kind of scooted it to the side and made it work for me! You can see what I am talking about with the way my desk is re-purposed in the picture above.
There is some assembly required , but that isn’t my kind of thing- so I passed it off to David 🙂 However, there are very detailed instructions so it wasn’t too horribly difficult!  The instruction booklet was full of helpful information from everything to assembling it, to troubleshooting and care and maintenance.
One of the neatest things that the DeskCycle has is a digital display, and it comes with a stand where you can actually sit in on your desk to see various facts about your cycling such as distance, speed, time, calories, etc. There is also a online free calorie calculator that you can use as well! Here is a pic of the display sitting on my desk (on the left)
Here are a couple other random shots of that I took so you can have some real life pictures to get an idea and feel for the size and what it looks like:
I love the concept of the DeskCycle a lot- I love that it doesn’t take up a lot of room, that it makes things more convenient, and you can use it any time you are sitting down with your legs free. I like that it will help take some steps for me to be more active and that it can be used right here in the house since David and I are becoming such old people homebodies! I am looking forward to working more with it in the future. There are also 8 tension levels to work with so you can work your way up if you want to!
Oh and, I Really love being able to see what is going on with me in relativity to the bike with the desk stand for the display because it makes that convenient- ! I think anyone that works at a desk and wants to incorporate more activity into their day should def. check into getting a DeskCycle!
