I have pretty much been a girl that liked tech-y kind of things since I was first on the internet when I was in about 4th grade (about 1994 or so) We only had internet at school and I really didn’t know a whole lot about it other than we got email from my teachers daughter who was away at school and that was pretty cool – she would let us check her email and stuff!
When I got to be in about 6th grade or so I remember we used to get to learn about going online and such but it still wasn’t a really big thing and it was limited to just when I was at school and such. We didn’t get a computer at home until I was in 9th grade , and of course we got the internet and I thought it was the greatest thing ever. Pair that in with finding out you as a individual person could have your own site and for free (hello geocities right? ) and I was just over the moon. I can remember I was the first person in the family that had the internet actually and I might be the only one that has their own site to my knowledge! I had a cousin of mine that used to do sites but not anymore that I know.
I actually remember when I found my first flash drive! It was a WHOPPING 128mb and costed almost $50 and I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread! I couldn’t imagine the day when it could get better than that! Fast forward to now when things are so much more advanced- it really does make you wonder when we will have the day that we are sitting here saying the same kind of thing about todays technology right?
In the mean time though, I found one of the neatest little gadgets that I have found in a while and was lucky enough to get one to review (of course!)from Sandisk! It is this awesome little flash drive -esque little device called the Sandisk Connect wireless stick and I was so excited to be able to get one. The funny thing- my original flashdrive was 128MB… this little gadget is 128 GB!! I dont’ even think I knew there were such a thing as a GB back in the day!
So in general I have had a ton of pictures and random documents since I was first online, as I am sure anyone who is reading this has had the same experience. You know what though? I don’t know how many things I have had that have gotten lost over the years.
I know there for a while it was quite the thing to put things on CD’s, but I have been famous to have cd’s get scratched- and when it is a data CD- well.. yeah it isn’t that great in the long run, especially when that is the only copy of it that you have! I have also had discs that didn’t get switched over at all- and my absolute favorite were a few memory cards in cameras that have gotten deleted by accident over time- that if I had backed them up in some way I could have likely still had the pics today!
I mean back in the day, I was young and just thought stuff would be around forever! I never thought about backing stuff up- I just kept one copy and whatever you know? Pair that with the first time something really important to me got forever gone and I learned to stop having that sort of attitude!
The Sandisk Connect Wireless Stick, comes in sizes from 16GB up to 256GB I have laughed though because the one I got was 128GB – and there that first actual flashdrive I ever got was 128mb so it is like coming full circle! I have got really used to trying to back up my pics and important stuff on 2-3 different cloud drives (just in case you know- 🙂 then again you don’t know how many times I decided to ONLY save things to the computer and BAM crash!) I do tend to trust cloud drives a whole ton more though 🙂
So exactly what is the Sandisk Connect wireless stick? well it i is like the flashdrive reinvented! First of all everything is wireless! The only time you ever have to plug it in is if you are feeling old school or you want to charge your device! You can connect to your own device or even devices of your friends! It works with up to 3 devices and you can stream music, video, etc if that is your kind of thing! It also works where you are- no mater where your device is!
All you have to do is download an app which is available for both IOS and Android, and you are all set! not only is everything wireless, but you can also use it to share things with your friends , colleagues, or anyone else that you would want to share with- and it works with not only pictures and files but it works with music and videos like I mentioned above-but you don’t have to be the only one that has access so that is really neat! Oh= and like I mentioned
It is great also, as a way to free up your memory on your devices- because I know that most of us have been at that point before- where your device is telling you to free up some some memory – especially if you have to go low end when you get a device so that you save money like I do! This way it can back up from several of your devices and free up the space so you don’t get that annoying message! I actually need to connect my tablet because it is really old and has a ton of things on it that I don’t want to clean off!
My favorite thing of all though is that it will automatically back up your photos and videos if you set it up to do so via the app, which is awesome because I know that I try to back up some of my stuff to different cloud drives but I tend to forget to do it and then it takes a good while to do all of that , that way I can free up space. This way I can just consider it done.
I am very much enjoying my Sandisk Connect Wireless stick, and I know it will be a device that I use A LOT and for a long time, and I am loving getting to try it out. I think anyone with any sort of mobile device that likes to take pictures, save music and video would enjoy this device – it is fun and practical and to me that is the best sort of gift to receive!
