So.. In case you haven’t been following along.. or haven’t looked around on the main page.. I went on this big trip to Myrtle Beach October 8-12th! It all came together very nicely, and of course the foundation of getting the trip together was finding a hotel- then the rest came from there! I was lucky enough to get 3 of my 4 nights at the hotel in exchange for review thanks to the lovely folks at Vacation Myrtle Beach. (The extra night came into play because I had the Myrtle Beach Safari (T.I.G.E.R.S) for Monday and had to be there really super early!)
If you are interested in a little bit more background of how everything came together and such, you can check out this post I wrote with that sort of information: How My Myrtle Beach Trip Came Together! It has all kinds of good information!
So I picked Hotel Blue from a list of about 14 different hotels that Vacation Myrtle Beach represents! Of those 14, they out right own 3 of the hotels including Crown Reef Resort , Hotel Blue, and the sister hotel to hotel blue called the captains quarters- it is only about a block down from Hotel blue and you can use all their amenities which was really cool!
Hotel blue is really cool because they actually had the first swim up bar in South Carolina called Mixx, and it is still one of the few that are in Myrtle Beach! Now, I have to remind you all I did all of this in the month of October so a lot of the things that would be available in the more peak season wasn’t available to me- some things were totally closed, and some just had different hours than normal.
I know that these things would have been nice to experience but I also really do like being at the beach when it is less people-y. Not that I have ever been there during peak season, I just know how I am! A few things that I didn’t get to experience at hotel blue was of course the swim up bar MIXX and I didn’t get to experience Proximity which was the bar in the lobby.
Anyways, we got to the hotel pretty early, and got checked in and my PR gal had left me a present- a tote bag with a beach towel with hotel blue on both! There were cute chocolates down in there that I found later too! -believe me she went above and beyond and I even had breakfast with her the last day and.. she was just the best!
She had not only got me the 3 nights at the hotel, but I got breakfast buffet for David and myself every day at the captains quarters buffet (Vista 9) Free Parking (Usually $10 a night) a $25 credit for food which could be used at loco gecko, which was between hotel blue and the captains quarters!
Our room was on the 6th floor and it was only one number off from being David and my anniversary (our anniversary is 6/17 and our room was 6/16 so that was cool!) Also, we were able to park on our level right near our room actually so that was nice too!
Here are a few pics of when we were checking in:
Our room was a ocean view king- and well.. nothing can describe it like pics right?
Impressions of Our Room (and where is that music coming from?)
I will just say it was clean, very spacious and had lots of places to sit other than the bed so that was nice. I loved being able to stick all my stuff in the closet and even though I pretty much kept everything in the bags I packed , I liked that there were really deep drawers and space to put everything away if I wanted to.
A funny thing is I didn’t find half the plug ins in the room until half way through the trip- there were several where the cabinet on the right side is if you just open it up and look 🙂
Also, I am used to having carpet and I wish I would have had some house shoes or a few more pairs of socks to wear around on the hotel floor!
I loved the king size bed too- I am so used to sleeping with David, Marley & Sam and well in this bed I couldn’t even hardly find David ! I think we need a king size bed now ha ha.
The amenities of our hotel room were
:King Bed, Mini Refrigerator, Microwave, Coffee Maker, TV and Oceanfront Balcony. Includes Wi-Fi, Hair Dryer, Safe, Iron and Board and Bathroom
There are several options for rooms even ones that have full size appliances, pots and pans and more!
Hotel Blue had lots of awesome amenities on site including:
Oceanfront Pool(which is heated seasonally) The Mixx swim up pool bar that I mentioned before, Ocean front hot tub, an indoor hot tub, indoor lazy river, cafe blue, on site laundry( I didn’t take anything to do laundry with because I figured we wouldn’t need to do any- however we drowned our shoes at the safari and we had to get change from the office because there wasn’t a change machine and no machines to buy laundry stuff just for future reference ), cafe blue (seasonal) simply blue (the mini mart for forgotten items and souvenirs) wifi(all you had to do was open your browser and follow instructions) There was also ice(1,2,3,5,811 and 14) and vending machines (level 3,5,7 9,10 and 14- and I know that level 3 had a snack machine and drink machine) Also there was a 24 hour front desk.
We enjoyed the Lazy River , both hot tubs, and the outside pool on several occasions! I actually love the concept of inside stuff more than you can imagine because I have been to the beach and been totally rained out- we did have quite a bit of rain but it mixed in with cloudy times and sunny times and at least we had options just in case!
The View from our Room:
Oh and how about the view from our room? this also shows the pool view and the outside hot tub, since I didn’t take the phone out to get pictures but when we first got there because I didn’t want to keep up with it or get it dropped in the water (because that has happened before to us!) Oh- and a special note about being on the side with the ocean and pool? They play music most of the day and into the evening -which is cool but at first we were like what is that noise? is it music? 🙂
Looks Good, Sounds Good- and It got more Awesome with Captains Quarters amenities!
So far everything sounds awesome, the room is great and the view is amazing right? well let me throw some more awesome at you! You remember when I said we could use the amenities at the captains quarters (about a block away?) well.. there were a ton of things there! These include 15 water features, Level 6 (bowling ally /arcade and bar) and Vista 9 breakfast buffet
We didn’t do anything water related at Captains quarters but we did experience Level 6 and Vista 9 – so let me break all that down for you (with pics of course!)
Vista 9 Breakfast Buffet:
We had breakfast each and every morning of the trip at the Vista 9 restaurant. It was basically a mini little buffet – but it had everything in the world that you could possibly want- there was fruit, gravy and biscuits, eggs (also an omlette station) Juice, coffee, waffles you could make, cereal, bacon, french toast and more! I admit I am not a breakfast person -especially early on in the morning- but we varied the times that we ate there so I enjoyed it none the less! I am a huge fan of corn beef hash and fried potatoes so that was great too 🙂
The hours for the buffet while we were there at least, were from 7-11 so I liked that you had a good range of times to visit!
David’s Food (because he eats different things than me lol)
You get really awesome views at vista 9 as well – there are HUGE windows – this picture I took the first day we were there- we were there EARLY and it was kind of a rainy day as well – but look how awesome the view was:
I REALLY enjoyed being so close to food and not having to go out and find breakfast (especially that first morning when we had to be at the safari so early!) There wasn’t really anything missing for me either!
Level 6: Bowling Alley/Bar/Arcade
Let me just say this is where the most of my money that we spent on the trip went! You get one free bowling game every day of your stay – you just have to pay a cheap shoe rental fee. Also, if you get 2 games they will give you one free. I LOVE BOWLING. We don’t have anywhere really close to bowl- I don’t know the last time we went! Also, I love drinking and music so this all mixed well for me!
There were other things to do like pool, but we stuck to bowling. There are 20 lanes and you can of course get soda or alcohol from the bar, and you have pizza/wings/fries,etc that you can get to snack on as well!
We went EVERY night except Tuesday night when we went to the Legends in concert show! I know the first night we were there I got this bowling pin tumbler with a bahama breeze drink in it I believe- and after that I got $3 off of the drink price because I already had the cup. Let me tell you, I don’t get a buzz off of alcohol very often- but I could totally feel these drinks! I also bought several regular size drinks for $6 and they were great too!
Here are some bowling pics – I have to say the first night someone played Jason Aldean for a long time and I was so happy lol OH, and there is a rare pics of me actually winning too ha ha. They were also nice enough to put the bumpers up for me too! Our bowling alley here won’t do it unless you are a kid- they can even do it there for just one person or both so that was super nice!
This was my favorite way to have a good time and relax and it being so close by was great- and the free game and bogo games + being cheap for the shoe rentals and games was perfect!
Let’s Wrap this up:
Here is a pic I took of the hotel the last night:
I have almost wrote 2000 words about Hotel Blue & all the great amenities that they had between them and the sister hotel Captains quarters, and I could probably keep going, but I think I covered about everything that I wanted to stay (I actually made notes as I was on the trip!)
We enjoyed a spacious, clean room. We enjoyed friendly staff, relaxing in the pools, hotubs and lazy rivers and most enjoyed eating at Vista 9 and Bowling at Level 6. I am so excited that I connected with the great folks at Vacation Myrtle Beach (and so many others) and I hope to be able to bring you more posts like this in the future!
