Several years back when David and I had lived with my mom and dad there for a little while, we finally got out on our own again at these apartments that are kind of in the middle of my parents/where we used to live (and lived again later on lol) and when we lived there we had a heck of a time with the power bill being outrageous, and even involved an argument more than once with the rent lady /her hubs that my AUX and Emergency heat shouldn't be running constantly - we actually bought a heater to sit in the hall way to keep it from running 24/7! I am talking power bills up to $200+ at one point. We moved back into town in the fall of that year, and my grandma had already bought me an awesome christmas present, because she knew we were having so many problems with the heat and everything- she had got me this really neat fireplace heater, and the year after that she got me another one(one is red and one is black and they are totally different styles) We used to use one upstairs and … [Read more...]
Review: 88 Handbags:Mavis Cream Mini Quilted Dome Satchel #review #sponsored #ad #88Handbags
A lot of women have a thing for shoes. My thing however has always been for purses! Sure I have a fair share of shoes laying about but I pretty well wear the same ones at all times. The only time I really switch is if I need to wear something out of the normal, or if the seasons change and I go from wearing flip flops to wearing tennis shoes or vice versa. I used to be a little more into changing shoes and whatnot but ever since I messed my ankles up, I just don't really seem to be that into it anymore! Purses though- Ever since I was 2 years old I don't think I Have ever left the house without a purse (unless it was on purpose- for example when I used to go to work I used to just carry my ID and debit card and all that sort of thing that way I didn't have to be worried that it was safe) except maybe one time and that was back when every Friday when I was going to school it seemed like they did a road check on my way back home and I was scared to death! Luckily, that didn't happen … [Read more...]
Review: Thrive Algae Oil #review #sponsored #ad #thrivealgaeoil
When it comes to eating and being healthy in what I eat, I do admit I could use a little "help" I try my hardest and use my instant pot pressure cooker tons- it is amazing with locking in nutrients and what not. I am not big on frying things- though I do saute' a lot of different meats in my instant pot and a lot of my favorite foods are fried! I know that I try to use olive oil and when it comes to salting my food (because we all know I am a salt feign) I use sea salt. I actually in the spirit of when I got my instant pot gave up my deep fryer- and I am really big on snacking on fries for lunch or after dinner /before bed snack. I really did it for 2 reasons that weren't quite health related #1 I never hardly used the one that we had because I got steam burned on it really bad and I didn't really like it anyways so I never used it and #2 I wanted the counter space for Thor (My instant pot) but in the long run this has saved me from doing a whole lot of fry frying and assorted … [Read more...]
Review: Assorted Alcohol: Blade & Bow, IW Harper, and Woodwork Wines! #ad #sponsored #review
This is a review of alcohol. Please keep in mind that you must be of legal drinking age in your area to purchase and /or enjoy these types of beverages! As you all have gathered by now I think my favorite things to review are kitchen goodies, foods and wine and Alcohol related things! Of course I love reviewing almost anything (no books, no apps) but these seem to be the things I am always on the lookout for and that really make me excited when I get a pitch for them! A little while back I was looking for some alcohol of sorts to wind down my Holiday Gift Guide and transition me back into "regular" reviews. However, I got sent such an assortment I had to postpone the review a little bit so I cold get to try everything! Nothing wrong with that, the girl that I am working with was totally fine with that- especially with it being the Holidays and everything to boot! Anyways I had this awesome gal out of Charlotte (How Crazy is that?) that I got into contact with who offered me … [Read more...]
Review: SpeakStick Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker #ad #sponsored #review #speakstick
Something I have always loved to do is listen to music when I am in the bathtub! Years ago I would just tote my big CD player in there and you know- be stuck with whatever CD or Tape (one side lol) or the radio (which would always go to chit and chat as soon as you got in! I actually still did this when I was living in Boone, NC and going to Appalachian State. Somewhere along the line, I had this neat little thing where you could put your walkman inside and hook it up to a speaker type thing with some cords, closed it up and you could listen to it. Really it wasn't that much better than using your big boombox except well I guess it kind of was because it was smaller and a little bit more water proof but you still didn't really have any options to speak of! Of course I did live in those times before an ipod and before bluetooth! Now you have a lot more options when you want to listen to your music wherever you might want to listen to it, and you aren't even stuck to music you … [Read more...]
Review: Swanson Broths: Unsalted & Bottled #review #ad #sponsored #swansonbroths
Relevant History, As Always! I know when you think of me you likely don't think of wow that Nichole, what an awesome cook she is, because this blog isn't a cooking blog or anything like that.. I know that at one point in life I knew so little about making anything that wasn't in the microwave that I swore I could burn water- this was a comment to my ex boyfriend and my still best friend Jason who is in fact now a chef, so it is even more funny when you think about it. Of course, back then I had no clue that he would end up being a chef. I can remember hanging out with him between classes at his house and he would be making hot pockets so...:) I have evolved over the years thankfully- I just kind of threw myself into things and tried to teach myself- and my mom actually wrote several things down in a book for me! I need to actually find that book because I know there are a few things in there that I would love to make that I haven't just yet. She also had cleaning information and … [Read more...]
